who is finding out the gender?!

We didn't find out with our son, who is 16 months old, and it was such an awesome surprise when he was born. But now I'm not sure if I want to wait that long again! Just curious what everyone is planning on doing.

I doubt we will.  We didn't find out ahead of time with either of the boys.  I'm kind of tempted to find out this time, but I doubt I will convince DH.  We generally decline ultrasounds too, so I'm not sure if the opportunity would even present itself.

This will likely be an issue. Currently I'm not interested in ultrasounds. My husband really wants to know, though. We did it the my son. I guess we'll see but I'm leaning towards no pretty strongly.

I'm not interested in surprises, and due to twins the last go around I'll be getting at least 2 ultrasounds, one fairly early on , and one later, and if they can see things then, I'll want to know.  :)

I will find out. I want a chance to bond and since I am really wanting a girl, I don't want to find out it is a boy at birth. If it is a boy I will take a couple of days to be sad and then bounce right back and fall in love with my boy. I am expecting a boy so that my disappointment won't be too great. I know this sounds shallow, but I am just being honest. I believe this way we will have the happiest birth day ever.

I doubt the midwife will offer ultrasounds, though she does do in office prenatal visits. I did know with my first, and didn't with my second. I would rather not know to reduce the amount of uber pink or blue stuff people will want to give me *but* I don't think i can resist knowing if I have a chance. lol

I am high risk so I will have the opportunity to find out, so far we are planning to. I think DH could wait, if I wanted him to, but I am so impatient. Heehee. I have two boys already, so I need to know if I should plan for pink, or what! ;)

Twins certainly call for some warning! ;)

I convinced my hubby the first time around not to find out, so I am trying to decide if I need to convince him otherwise, this time around!  :o)

The first time, it was nice because people didn't go overboard buying us pink or blue, so we actually got baby items we needed.  This time though, we have everything we need, but no girl clothes should we need them...

I thought I wanted a boy, but recently the thought of a baby girl is exciting to me.  So I am thinking I might want to know this time, so I have time to bond and come to terms with the gender!

I will definitely be finding out. With my first, the day i found out the baby was a boy was the greatest day of my pregnancy. Giving birth and meeting the baby is surprise enough for us so i figure why not have 2 surprise days instead of 1

How early are you planning on finding out?  My midwife only does 1 ultrasound, unless more are necessary, so I'm thinking I can't find out until 20 weeks!

I plan to only do the 20 week scan if I do one at all.

Well, I just talked to DH and apparently he DOES want to find out this time around. I swear he said he didn't a month or two ago when we discussed it, but now he says that he said the opposite. Ladies, one of the adults in this house is losing his/her mind!

Even though I am AMA we will decline all chromosomal testing, so it looks like we will opt for the 20 week ultrasound this time around (unless there is a simpler way to find out the gender ahead of time?) Which means this babe will probably get two because I have had a post-dates US with both prior pregnancies.

I'd like to find out! This will be my first so I am excited to start crocheting little gender specific booties and blankets before he or she is born :-)

Yes this is definitely one of the reasons i'd like to know. So I can knit things bwahahahaha

I could have typed this exact same thing myself, except opposite gender. I have two girls and want a boy but am already telling myself it's a girl so I can be overjoyed if it's a boy! I cried both times I found out my daughters were girls. Within two days though, I was super excited for my girls. I always make sure to tell my pregnant friends this too so that they understand it is completely normal and okay to be disappointed on u/s day because I guarantee within a couple of days you will be in love with no matter what!

We are definitely finding out if the baby is a girl or a boy.  We did with our first too, and subsequently we were able to get boy stuff for him and everything was ready in his room before he was born.  I know if we find out we are having a girl I am going to go crazy shopping for everything pink, but I am trying my best to stay out of the stores since we still have everything from DS3.

It is nice to have empathy. I will send all my boy vibes your way and you can send all your girl vibes my way. FX for you...and me. orngbiggrin.gif

My thoughts exactly. I am going for an ultrasound with my daughter at 17 weeks. I told her if it is a girl we can go shopping and eat delicious food and if it is a boy we can cry and go eat delicious food.

This will likely be our first time waiting until birth day!  We found out the gender with our first 3 babies at our one and only u/s around 20 weeks.  Thinking we'll hold off on all ultrasounds and dopplers this time (both use questionable sound waves) ;)  My midwife's stance has changed over the years and now only uses a fetoscope for listening to heartbeats.  Here's a quick reference page for anyone interested in learning more http://www.drmomma.org/2010/06/ultrasound-doppler-fetoscope-pinard.html

We will definitely find out as well. Have 2 boys and this is our last. I really just want a healthy baby. But, I have to admit that I will have to grieve not having the experience of having a daughter, and I will then snap back to loving my boys. I actually did things to sway this time around. We'll see if any of it worked! Plan to find out early.
