I need advice

Hi

I have 2 sons from a previous marriage, they are 6 and 9yrs old. My 6yr old is very happy and settled and has a great relationship with his Step Dad (my new husband). My eldest son has always felt a loyalty to his biological father and has struggled to find his place in our new blended family. He has been getting increasingly angry over the last year and seems unsettled. He had a meeting yesterday with our Social Worker to see how he was doing and her conclusions were that he felt no afiliation to our new unit and that he felt his roots are very much in his fathers blood line. I am wondering whether he would be happier living with his Dad but don't know how to approach the issue with him and I don't want him to think that we don't want him, I simply long for him to be happy and settled.

what should I do?

Please help....

Is he seeing a therapist regularly? Do you participate in family therapy? What activities (routine or special) does he do with his stepfather to help them build bonds. Does your son understand that having fun with, and attaching to, your new husband doesn't mean that he's being disloyal to his father. Does his father support this, or do things that get in the way of this attachment.

Hi,

Has has seen a therapist and has/is doing activites with his Step Dad to help the relationship. His biological Dad does not like my new husband and feels threatened with him being in the kids lives so much.

I think the only thing to do is give it time.
