So, I haven't posted much here; I ended up being 3 weeks farther along than I thought I was when I joined the DDC so I thought I was in the December club. My date is now January 1st so I will stay with you :) Two questions (and I had a thread on frugality and finances that slightly addressed this) about providers. The first; we went for our first appointment, which was supposed to be done at 8-10 weeks but because I was farther along ended up being at 13 weeks. I had an ultrasound because of the dates at 11 weeks and I saw a healthy baby/heart beat but my husband wasn't able to be there. At the appointment a few weeks later we did all the background stuff, talked about my nausea, etc...and then when it was time for the exam at the end, the midwife said we were out of time and could do the exam at the next appointment. I was surprised and disappointed and said "ok" but then said "DH didn't get to hear the heart beat so could we at least do that?" She was fine with it but I was bothered. Would this bother you? Is this a total non-issue like my husband thinks?
Second question; we are looking into other providers. I guess I'm feeling a little skittish about doing a homebirth again and possibly having an emergency transfer. However, I'm not an "ideal" laborer. I have loooong labors and many plateaus so I think I'd being really struggling in the hospital to avoid a repeat c-section. We are meeting with another midwife this week, a private, individual midwife and also are hoping to meet with a midwife at the hospital and a dr at the hospital. Any advise, thoughts? Other vbac mamas?
P.S. Sorry so long, I'm awful at condensing!
