Right now my kids are 7yo and 2.5yo. We no longer have daycare for the toddler, my mom does watch them up to a couple days a week when I work at my current part time job. I think I can convince her I would still need that for when I would work overnights. So she would come in the next morning and take the kids so i can sleep. On average my youngest wakes up 1-2x a night. I think she would get used to me not being There at night, as she got used to me not being there quickly when I started my current job that runs until 10pm a couple nights a week, so DH had to start doing bedtime.
The ppd I talked to about this said she would go home after a night shift and sleep until lunchtime.
I do seem to need my sleep, I have many times since the youngest was born, gotten up in the middle of the night to do stuff around the house though. Not lately though and I feel dead tired when DD wakes me up. If I do too many nights in a row I get too tired but am able to make up the sleep when I can on a future night.
Just looking for others experience. I want to make sure I can do this before I spend the $ on certification and eventually quit my current job to do ppd exclusively (like my job a lot, but not my career goal and its part time low wage).
