We had a follow-up appointment with our midwife today to listen to the heartbeat, since she couldn't find it at 8 weeks. Still couldn't find the heartbeat, so she sent us for an ultrasound...and we have twins! I'm still in complete shock. Anyone else have multiples? I need advice for pregnancy, birth, and raising them!
Teamsalem- I have been in maternity clothes since 8 weeks and I knew my uterus seemed a little too big this time...but I didn't REALLY think it was twins! I actually told some friends the night before we found out that I wouldn't be surprised if it was twins, but I was still SHOCKED. Hah! I've actually been feeling way better than I did with my single pregnancy!
MommaCrystal- Thank you! We're totally overwhelmed just thinking about it!
There were several sets of twins in my last DDC. Congrats to you! I'm only 7 weeks now. Already showing and wore maternity pants yesterday. Other then yoga pants and one pair of "fat pants", nothing fits! It's on my mind! My dad is a twin as well. I think most likely it's just because this is my third baby. So exciting for your family! Congrats again! :)
I have not yet been in for an exam due to scheduling and trying to make my decision regarding whether we will be going out of town for care again, but I am holding my breath to find out if this is one or two little ones in there. My husband is a twin (which I know, does not matter), but also one of my grandfathers and also his own father were twins. I never knew this until I began measuring large with my first pregnancy (although I was sure it was just one, because she began doing these really odd stretches right away and I knew that since I could feel her position by the stretching, that I would have to be able to feel a second baby because it would have to be pressed really hard into me somewhere else in order for her to have that room!). I assumed, because my mother was one of 11 children and all were singletons, and none of them had ever had a twin birth, and even among my cousins on that side there has so far only been one set of twins to a male cousin (and his wife had a very strong incident of twins on her side of the family), that there simply wasn’t any history on that side of the family. At least my husband being a twin means I’ll have a lot of support from MIL if I happen to have twins. Because of my first daughter’s odd movements, it’s really making this pregnancy a super mystery to me!
We're having twins too! I haven't been on the boards much since we've been in Europe but yep, they saw two heartbeats at 7 weeks 5 days (or something like that). I'm 11/12 weeks in now. We are alternately thrilled and scared. It seems like it'll be really fun but we're gearing up for the challenge :) Can't wait to find out if they are identical or not!
