Mental leap 4 is about being able to recognize that things happen in a particular way....like wben you drop a ball, it will fall then bounce. Or the sequence of movements to throw a ball, stuff lile that. If you google the "wonder weeks" the website will explain it. I got the book from the library when DS was a baby and found it redundant...they did give ideas for games though, and prepped you for weeks that are typically harder tban others. The website gives enough info, I think. Aubrey's sense of humour has developed with this new understanding smile.gif

We definitely have the sense of humor thing going over here. She finds so many things absolutely hilarious! And she has begun blowing raspberries all day long. I need to be taking more videos, it's all going by so fsst already!

We definitely need to start baby proofing the house. Easton is our first baby and house is not baby safe yet- sharp corners on tables, cords, open stairways, etc. He's starting to roll constantly, soon he'll be crawling....

I'm excited. Just went to six month check up though we are still a week short of six months.

Larky is 19lbs I forgot his height, but he was in the 90th percentile for length and off the chart for weight.

Funny thing is he doesn't look as rolley as some of your babies, so I had expected more like 50-70th percentile.

I'll be curious to hear where your babies end up, though I know it will be a few weeks.

If this is a touchy subject feel free to ignore. I just always found this stuff interesting.

He started scooting around backwards :) he is sooo determined to get going he isn't sleeping very well. as in 2 20 minute naps and 9 hour nights. Not that a super loud 4 year old helps.

He has 2 teeth now as well.

It was a rough couple weeks with all this development, hoping for a break...oh no just checked the wonder weeks chart looks like 23 weeks is the beginning of a fussy month. Will be curious to see how that works

My babe is 4.5 months and 18 lbs and 26.5" and he's at the 80%tile (according to the cdc chart). He's been blowing raspberries this week, almost obsessively. Still not crawling, but will do tummy time for a long time, like 20 min or so, and will rock back and forth, but no crawling. He discovered his feet this week too! smile.gif

I've got another chunker her--4 months 2 weeks old, 19lbs and slightly more than 27 inches. Doctor said she is above 95th percentile on both markers. We'll see if crawling leans her out a bit. I hope not, I love the rolls! We are definitely going through the 4 month sleep regression right now and it sucks! What happened to my amazing sleeper?! She was up from 2:30-4AM last night! greensad.gif

JNajla, is Easton getting only pumped breastmilk? Awesome job, mama!

On the opposite end of the spectrum Holly is 4.5 mos old and weighs a mere 13.8 lbs (13 lbs 13 oz).  Her 4 mos check up had her at 23.75" long.  She is about 30th percentile.  We might be lucky if she weighs 18 or 19 lbs at the 12 month mark!!

Spotty, my previous 5 children were exactly the same. They were never high on the charts and my last 2 were around the 5th % most of their younger days. After they started solids the % increased a bit though. I haven't had Camden weighed since 3 months maybe so I have no clue where he is now but he was in the 30th % then for weight and 35th for height. He's wearing 3-6 month clothing and will be 5 months tomorrow.

Awww, Camden is a little pipsqueak like Holly.  Depending on the clothing brand Holly wears 0-3 mos clothes, 3-6 mos clothes, or 6 mos clothes.  Generally the smaller range quits fitting her b/c they aren't long enough (onesies).  As for pants, she's still in 3 mos.  She looks silly, though.  3 mos fit her through the waist but are too short.  6 mos pants are too big in the waist but are a better length.

It may have been discussed already, but what size clothes are our rubber band smugglers wearing these days?  I just love seeing the disparity!  Human babies are amazing. :-)

It actually caught me off guard that he was only in the 30th % because he seemed so big to me. People always comment about him "never missing a meal" and things suggesting he's a big boy but since I don't take him in there's really no way to know. I'm afraid someone at the Dr will be sick and he'll get it. I'm also avoiding the dreaded "he needs shots to stay healthy" comments. The PA he saw for his 2 month we'll check (at 3 months) said she was ok sdelaying shots for that visit but we'd need to catch up next time, but I think she was forgetting I'm his parent not her and it's my call. He doesn't go to day care and exclusively breast feeds so I'm not ready to do it. Ok wrong thread for this 😉

Oh and he has short legs so the 6 month pants don't really fit but the onesies are good because his torso is long like daddy's.

Aubrey is still a little over 14 pounds...she's tall though, but I haven't measured her lately...I have her in size 6 months for length, but they are pretty loose on her. Its weird having a smaller baby this go 'round - I don't think sbe will double her birth weight by six months...DS had doubled by 4. I love seeing the range now too!
Oh yeah Aubrey is 5 months...and sitting up pretty well too!

Ama is a big baby. At her 4 month appointment she was 16.2 lbs and I think 26 in. About the 90th percentile for everything. She has nice big thighs but she isn't exactly smuggling rubber bands, either. smile.gif

She has returned a bye bye wave a few times! Can't get her to do it often, but she really did wave back on at least three separate occasions!

He gets about 20 oz pumped breast milk and about 12-15 oz of Babys Only formula. I don't produce enough for him so we have to supplement.
Well clearly he is thriving, so good work to you.

I've got a pipsqueak here. At 6 months Quest is 13lb 7oz. 25.75". We were having extra appointments at dr office every few weeks because his weight growth was so low between 2-4 months. He fell off his curve and was below the chart. Then just regular growth awhile. He finally has done some extra growth and dr is happy about it. (Don't tell dr I still barely pumped) We'll go in next month to make a plan about adding solids. I totally understand desire to stay out of dr office though. I really think DS 1 picked something up from well baby check up that had him in ICU for 2 weeks. That's a big part of wanting a homebirth for in home well baby checks. Sigh. Anyway Quest was so cute in the tub trying to put slippery feet in his mouth. And he's rolling like a champ.
Babies typically double birth weight by 6 months and triple by 12 months. And remember that the 50%tile is the average. Some babes will be chunkers and some leaner than others. As long as they are following a consistent healthy curve on the growth chart, that's ok! smile.gif

Tenk if you are super curious you can weigh and measure at home and look up the cdc chart online.

I didn't take my first to well checks for the same reason.

This time around we are seeing a naturopath, so I feel good about going in.

clothes are a funny thing they are all made so differently. we are using a pretty wide range his shirt today says 3-6 months but his pants are for 24 months and rolled up. I have the hardest time with diaper covers. He keeps outgrowing them, but only in the super fat thighs area :)
