Wildgreen, I use an Ameda purely yours double pump but I had to pump while I was at work. It was a double electric. I liked it because it's a closed system pump so no chance of milk getting into the motor or parts to create mold issues. I also used a medela harmony hand pump when I slowed down on pumping. I much prefer the electric; easier. You don't have to pump and dump if you want a drink once in a while. Your breast milk is going to have the same alcohol content as your blood. If you "over do it" you just might need to hold off nursing for a bit and pump if it gets uncomfortable. Don't waste that liquid gold.

I just started looking into pumps and getting one from my insurance last night. I'm glad to hear you like the Ameda Purely Yours, Becky, because I think that's one I can get. I need to call the supplier and then they will contact the insurance and birth center to confirm coverage/need. Not sure yet whether I can get it ahead of time or have to wait until baby is here. So complicated!
