Weekly Chat July 17th-28th - Page 5
Dahlia - I'm so pleased your contractions were stopped and your wee girl is fine! Hopefully some quiet time will fix whatever caused them.
Abk - I hear you on the tiredness, I think mine is partially from really low iron which I am trying to boost and the fact we are moving house is a week and a halfs time and its a tad stressful right now. Would a day by yourself being pampered help
Rainy - I just adore the fact your husband has nick named your baby his hobbit that's so sweet.
I'm 30 weeks pregnant today, I have my midwives appointment for this month tomorrow morning, my dad is coming over to watch ds2 as he runs riot at the clinic and neither myself or my midwife manage to get a word in. We move house is not much more than a week, so I am head down bum up packing, to be honest it's a nightmare, we've lived here coming up 4 yrs and there is so much crap :-( on top of that I'm tired and can't lift anything.... Dang pelvis.
To top it off the land agent is coming to take advertising photos at the end of the week, how she plans to do that with boxes all over the place I don't know....
Besides a cot mattress I am so ready for this bub, I have a blanket to finish but as long as its done by next winter I'm not fussed we have a gazillion others that I have discovered while packing.
I cannot believe that in a minimum of 6 weeks some of us will start having babies! I'm guessing just 8 wks to go for me and this little lady.
How is everyone with sorting names? We've had one picked for awhile, most of our family know and love it but I'm worried I might be going off it :-/
Dahlia, I'm so glad your contractions have stopped. I hope your little one stays in there until she's ready! I had a scare with premature labour contractions last time. I was on edge for weeks afterward, waiting for them to start back up, but he stayed in until 38+2. I hope it's not still too stressful for you.
Danielle, good luck on the move! I can't imagine having to move right now! I hope all goes well for you! As for names, I've had a girl and boy name picked out since high school! The boy name lost some of its luster and ended up as DS3's middle name, but I'm still set on my girl's name. Luckily, DH and I have very similar taste in names. We've never disagreed on a name, but there are very, very few names we like well enough to use it as a name for our child, so boy names were getting difficult!
Danielle- I must have missed it but it sounds like you got that house You wanted! That's exciting! Though I honestly can't imagine moving at this point in my pregnancy. I am way too tired 90% of the time.
Abk- as noted above I cannot believe how tired I am. I'm pretty amped to be on vacation right now where DS is super occupied with cousins and aunts and uncles and I can just relax for the week. Of course last night he almost broke his finger sticking it in a moving well hand pump. That blew. We're still working on names. I have my favorites and DH keeps coming up with new ones. I think we need to make ourselves a 36 week deadline. We're only at 29 so we still have time.
Anyway, other than the tired I feel pretty damn good. I had two stranger pregnancy comments that were totally unexpected and lovely. One cashier the other day told me I looked beautiful and when another woman asked how far along I was and I responded waiting for the usual "woah, you still have a ways to go and that belly is huge" instead I got "that's so soon!". It was a pleasant change of pace. Her daughter had just had a baby so she actually had a realistic sense of how big pregnant women get.
Ciga, what a nice compliment :) People can be so rude sometimes, it's a nice change when someone actually pays you a compliment! I had a friend over the other day, with her mom, and my friend wasn't trying to be rude, but when she and her mom walked into my house she said "Look how big she is!".. I know that my friend is just really excited, and to her me being big means the baby will be here soon. But still haha, people don't always think before they speak! On the other hand, a nice man at the library the other day told me I have a "lovely glow", which I thought was sweet.
Graci- Thank you! I'm not feeling overly stressed at this point.. I'm pretty sure it was all caused by a stomach virus of some kind, since I was also having nausea/vomiting as well as some diarrhea (sorry tmi, i know) off and on. I'm feeling a lot better today, and have been able to keep food down, and am drinking tons of water so I don't get dehydrated.
Danielle, thank you :) I was starting to worry about you; I feel like I haven't seen you around as much! But maybe somehow I just missed your posts haha! That's exciting about your new house! But I feel for you with being so tired all the time! Could it be low iron? My doctor prescribed me a new prenatal vitamin because I was so close to being anemic. It's really helped my energy levels! As for baby names, my husband and I have had our girl's name picked out for years haha. I absolutely love it :) I hope the name you thought you wanted doesn't lose it's luster!
Abk, I'm sorry you're feeling so cruddy! I hope your tiredness lifts so you can enjoy the last few weeks of pregnancy.
Thanks again to you ladies for well wishes! Fingers crossed I won't have to worry about any more real contractions for another 9 or 10 weeks!
We've had our name picked for awhile too. DH pretty much said from the day we found out that he wanted to name the baby Hazel. He was soooo set on it that I couldn't really say no. I wanted to at least keep it a surprise so there would be some kind of excitement at the birth, but he has also told everyone that asks. And all my family already calls her by name (I'll laugh if its actually a boy!!)
Someone posted about doing a bead swap and I would love to! Anyone else interested? I could probably "host" it unless someone else wants to. Maybe comment on this thread and we can get one started: http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1387354/bead-swap-anyone We should probably get on it quick as some moms in our group may not have too much longer!
Dahlia, glad to hear you're feeling better! Sounds like a bit of a scary experience.
Abk, i hope you get some relief from the tiredness and crankiness!
Danielle, sounds like you got the house you wanted! Exciting! But yeah, I could barely handle moving when I was six weeks, let alone the thought of doing it now!
Ciga, how nice to get some compliments. I posted a pic on FB this weekend and got some compliments, so that was nice. Otherwise it's mostly just hubby that tries to make me feel like I look good.
We've had the first name picked out since early on and I still love it. We're still deciding between two names for the middle name. One is "normal" and the other is Irish. I think we both like the "normal" name better, but DH feels like he should have an Irish name in there too (and I'm not on board with two middle names, so we need to pick just one). I am a little sad about our chosen first name because it's very high on the popularity charts, but we picked it and loved it before we ever looked at the charts. It blows that she might end up being 1 of 10 little girls around with the same name, but we keep using it when talking about her now, so it's "stuck". DH has told quite a few people the name despite me not wanting him to, so I think most of his family already know. My family are not so lucky. I'm not telling until she's here.
Oh, and I got baby to move back into her usual position at the end of last week, thank goodness. I went back to my chiro exercises and did a lot of stretching and I think that helped get her back. So I think she's head down, but maybe the midwife can confirm at my appt tomorrow. It's nice to not be punched or kicked in the cervix anymore at the very least.
Slammerkin I've learned not to worry too much about name popularity. My son's name is always in the top names nearly every year and is in the top 5 most common boy names of all time (its a classic old name). And yet although we do meet other boys with his name from time to time on the playground or whatever... its not the same way it was when I was a kid (when there were 3 Matt's, 3 John's, 3 Kate/Katie's, and 3 Jen/Jenny's in every single class). I think parents are using a lot more diverse names now, so even when you have a "most common" name its not AS common as it used to be. I mean yes she might meet other kids with the same name, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Anyone have suggestions for a breast pump? I am planning on staying home from work for about a year. So I would mostly only need to pump if I am going to be out for a bit so my husband can feed the baby or if we happen to have a babysitter on occasion or if I want to have a drink now and then. I do not want to take forever or for it to be a big hassle but also don't want to waste money. thanks
Went to my midwife this morning, everything is looking great, baby girl is already head down quite deep, not engaged though. Wriggling like a trooper, blood pressure is great, and weight gain has slowed and measuring 29.5cm. All in all a very happy appointment.
Ohh, sorry I'm not any help Wildgreen! I was looking at a medela one originally. I've heard good things about avent as well. But, no personal experience!
I really hope to produce a really good supply like you, Shiloh, that way I can always have a good stockpile in the freezer!
I'm glad your appointment went well Danielle!
