I saw a Sling In Action this weekend at Lowe's!! I'd never seen snyone IRL using anything other than a Snugli or Baby Bjorn. It was a Toddler, too , and he looked so comfy! GG, just wanted to share!

I use mine constantly when we are in public & still get comments of amazement at that "new carrying thing." A lot of older moms comments that they wished they'd had those when her own children were little. Ummm.... they did, the stroller makers just had better advertising....

So true!!

People seem to forget that strollers have only been around for about a hundred years or so.

That's great, I have never seen anyone else using one - even in the large cities.

I had the opposite experience with an older lady. She was in her late 40's, early 50's. I was wearing the ring sling and she commented that she had used one with her kids, then asked a slightly younger co-worker if she had used one. That lady said she didn't have one like mine, she had used to old snugli type carriers.

I love seeing SIAs, never heard that expression before. Here in Portland, slings are not that uncommon, I see lots of ring slings at the library, grocery store, and I even saw a funky hip carrier (I think WRF?) at the MALL, of all places. Haven't seen any ABCs or wraps, and I get stopped all the time with my Moby.

I love that! Wouldnt it be awesome to see some sort of public service announcement on Mainstream TV for Babywearing?! That would ROCK!

Aww! I've never seen a toddler (besides by people I know) being carried . . .what kind of carrier was it?

I'm not sure, I am new to slings so bear with me... It was all black and it looked stretchy and very soft. and all one piece. She had it on like when you wear a bag over your chest and shoulder, you know? Like diagonally and the little boy was on her hip like you normally carry a child, only she didn't need her hands, the sling held him up! I was WAY impressed. If anyone knows what kind of sling that was, please post so I can buy one!

Maybe a New Native? They come in black.

i dont know what maker it might be, but it definitely sounds like a pouch or hip pouch sling. they are very comfortable, and the easiest sling to use.

LOL! I was at the grocery store the other day with DD in the sling and got lots of curious looks. One elderly lady was so excited, she asked "is this new? is this a new thing?" When I told her that humans had been carrying their babies in slings for thousands of years, she laughed and said "well I must be behind the times!" - thought that was pretty funny. She said she loved seeing someone carrying a baby that way. I was very proud.

I saw one this past weekend at the Columbus Zoo, so I struck up a conversation with the mom and found out she gets mothering mag but doesn't come here. I told her she should check us out......LOL
