Weekly chat thread July 20th-July 26th
Woken up from a sound sleep in the middle of the night by DS (for quite some time, too), in the early morning by MIL calling, and then from my brief nap by the dog. I guess I was so out of it when I got up from the nap to take the dog out, I ended up putting my maternity jeans on backwards, and then didn't notice until this afternoon when I was out grocery shopping with DS. I couldn't figure out why they kept falling down more than normal (they are a size too big for me).
My twins are here!! They were born on 7/17 @ 37+2/7 by C-section after 25+ hours of labor. We tried really hard for a natural birth but my twins were locked together and wouldn't descend. I got so lucky since our homebirth had turned into hospital birth. I had been worried they wouldn't let me labor like I wanted. The hospital let me do intermittent monitoring. I got to walk the halls, labor in a birth pool, climb stairs, use the birth ball and only get a saline lock. I couldn't have asked for a better experience or better nurses or doctors. I am truly humbled. My fraternal girls are healthy and beautiful and I am sooo glad to be back home with them. Trinity Eve (pink swaddle cloth) was 6 lb 11 oz and River Faythe 6 lb 1 oz.
Glad they are here but C- sections suck. Had a total anxiety attack. NEVER AGAIN. =p
Oh yea, and thanks for those who did the birth bead swap. I really feel like those beads from all you wonderful ladies kept me sane during the hardest parts.
Banana, sounds fun...I bet she loves it :)
Jacksonmom, eep, hang in there!
somegirl, LOL No way could I make that mistake...my butt wouldn't fit the other way!
autumn, congratulations on your beautiful girls!! Welcome to the world, Trinity and River! I'm glad your birth experience was positive even with a c-section. Good job, Mama!
Afm: What is the difference between prodromal labour and braxton hicks? I know I can google it but I'd rather hear it from someone who is currently experiencing it! I've been trying hard to get things started here on my own, intense acupuncture and everything else I can think of. Hopefully I'll have a stretch and sweep on Tuesday at my midwife appointment. I will also ask about the "midwife cocktail" and see what they say. I'm officially "on call" for induction starting Wednesday...they will call me the day before or morning of...eep. Baby feels HUGE and movement shakes my entire core lol
Thanks for all the well wishes. They didn't need any NICU time, so I got to keep them with me in the hospital and bring them when I was discharged today.
Banana - I live in Misery...oops, I mean Missouri.
Mama- We had planned a homebirth, but had to make the switch to hospital birth at 34 weeks. So no transfer. The hospital just happened to be as close to a birthing center experience as you can get without actually having any midwives.
Carmen- I think braxton hicks don't actually change the cervix. They are not usually painful, just help to tone the uterus. Prodromal contractions feel closer to the real thing, can cause cervical change and can last for weeks. I had contractions like these for weeks. Not fun. Hope that helps.
AFM- Its almost 1 in the morning and my kids are finally all asleep. I should be asleep too. Good Night
