Hoping this will be a better running week for me.
I managed to run yesterday, in the hail!! North winds. It was nasty, but I was sweating at the end!!!

Happy trails.

OOPs,
I didn't think the other one went thru. Well, disregard!!!

My goals for the week

Run 4-5 times, at least 3 runs of 40+ minutes
Bike to work each day
700 situps, 225 pushups.

I did a 40 minute run yesterday, but I already didn't bike in today -- I came straight from the Dr. Karen has coxsackie virus, so our week may not go very well. At least her fever is finally below 103.

Morning everyone,

Not sure what my goals are for this week. Hmmmm.... it's sort of a letdown after the race this weekend. I need to look up a training program for the july 10-mile race - that will get me going.

Well, I'll shoot for a total of 10-12 miles this week in 3 runs (maybe 4). I think I will try to put in some push-ups and sit-ups too. Maybe I'll wait until the end of the week to look up that training plan.... this week should either bring af or ! sshhhhh we won't go there yet.

Edited to add to Karen - I hope she feels better soon!

Karen

Feel better soon!

Thanks for the healing vibes. Phil went to TJs to get Karen some Apple Juice. I'm afraid my supply is low enough that I wasn't keeping Karen hydrated enough over the weekend, and we had to use some mama/dada tricks to get her to drink anything. The Dr saw us at 8:45 am, and it was the 3rd case she'd seen that morning.

I ran until week 18 of my pregnancy. I only stopped because the physical therapist told me that I would keep re-dislocating my tailbone by doing high impact exercise. It was biking, too. Biking on the streets here is high impact. There was a woman on my due-date list that ran 5 miles a day until the day before she delivered!

I've heard of lots of women running during pregnancy. As long as they were already running. You just shouldn't increase what you're doing is what I've heard. That's part of getting in shape now too. I want to be able to run at least part of the next pregnancy. With dd I started running and found out a week later I was pregnant. I stopped 'cause I knew I was in poor shape and was worried I would lose dd.

wow - running until 18 weeks preggo! I felt so crappy in the first trimester with dd that the last thing I wanted to do was run. That year I had run the spring race I just ran this Saturday, then I went to Europe for a month and didn't run at all. I got pregnant on that trip so I didn't do any running upon my return since I hadn't been running for about 6 weeks. I don't really feel any signs yet but I recall that I didn't notice anything with dd until 5 or 6 weeks.

How exciting for you!!!! I don't know how I would have run either in my 1st trimester!!!! Both kids wiped me out those first few mts!!!!

running during pregnancy??? Sounds like a good plan to me. My experience was being so tired I could hardly get out of bed until about week 25!

I hope karen is better soon.
and schatz I'm glad to hear race went well.

My goals this week:
run 4 times
attempt situps again (rib still bothering me)
think about pushups

last week wasn't fantastic -- dh's hernia repair surgery left me like a single mama. This week he's feeling a bit better and I have hopes that it might be running in shorts weather this week .(i.e. about 50 degrees )

hmm. best get back to the dissertation at hand.

Hello!

Hello! Please excuse my enthusiasm but I'm just so excited to see a running club at MDC! I have been on the boards about a year but I hadn't noticed this til now.

I am actively losing weight but am mainly running because I love to run (most of the time).

My goals for this week are:
Run 4x with one long (9 mile) run
Start hoisting some soup cans or something for weight training

That's all...I may do the race for the cure on Saturday but not sure cause I haven't signed up yet!
Peace.

I was also super, super exhausted, but when 5 pm came every day, I just had to go out and run. I had several days when I just walked a bit and skipped the running, but I was running 2-3 miles most days. Oh yeah, and sleeping 13-14 hours a day...

Prairie Home Companion was all about just how, um, warm Duluth can be. I was laughing the whole time and thinking of you running in up there!

yeah...PHC was in Duluth Saturday. We were sad because the tix sold out in 20 minutes....The thing is, this time of year SUCKS here. Umm as I was letting the dog out this morning it was SNOWING!!! (ok flurries, but I was barefoot not expecting snow). Summer and winter are just beautiful (persistent snow in winter, blue clear skies and lots of public trails for snowshoes and xc skiing). It is rarely so hot that you can't run during the day in summer. And when it is that hot, you just move your running location to be in close proximity to Lake Superior and it is about 15 degrees cooler I still miss some things about living in warmer locales, outdoor swimming pools for instance. And not having to bundle everyone up 9 months of the year.

edited cause i am changing my "email notification" option to the daily one. I think this feature is a good thing for me in getting some grunt work done

Well last week ended with a whimper, rather than a bang. I ended up missing my weekend workout b/c of dd's birthday party. SOOOOO, I am back on the bandwagon today. I also decided to give up sugar and eat more raw, so that should help with the energy.

This week:
3 x 30
1 x 60

I am just going to run and walk as my instincts tell me right now and not even worry about the time, other than total exercizing time. I think I overdid it last week. In my mind, I'm still that 120 lb girl taking up running, not the 180 lb one!!

Thistle -- you're right. Do whatever you think is going to get you exercising consistently. In the end, you are best off getting a bit less aerobic exercise 4 times a week every week than overdoing it for a week and then having to rest for a couple of weeks.

Eeek. I'm becoming an adict. I'm looking at the rain and I'm *pissed*. I seem to have lost the weather.com touch.

LOL

Well, hey, that's okay. A little rain will be okay. I'm doing an 8 hr shift today, off at 5, looking forward to running. It's cold outside, but at least it's not raining today!!!

Sorry, our rain from yesterday has now reached you. I just hate running in the rain (I hate wet feet). But today it is sunny here so you have something to look forward to

I just found my new training plan. I am going to stretch a 6-week half-marathon plan into 13 weeks as they suggest by repeating some weeks. I really only want to run 10 miles but there wasn't a plan for that and the 5th week of this plan should be about 10 miles for me (you do one really long run a week). Today is the rest day (yea!) but tomrrow I pound the pavement again. I will revise my goals for this week to be:

Tues 4 miles
Wed rest or short run
Thurs 4 miles
Fri rest
Sat bike (we now have bikes -- although I will be at my brother's this weekend so I might skip this or do a short run)
Sun run 70 min -- ack!! we'll see how this goes

Hey Shatz...what's your plan? I would be really interested in that too. I don't think I'm quite up to your pace, but might be in a couple weeks... Maybe we could do the same plan...talk about encouragement!!
