1.6km=1 mile
Does that help?
S/u and p/u....started out with set of 10, now doing sets of 65 for s/u and sets of 35 for p/u...and trust me, it's not easy...just remember to BREATHE!!!!
I think 4.4miles is 7ks....
I was thinking of posting my months end...stats, anyone else into doing that?

Hi all. I've got a cold, so no running today. Just peppermint tea and a "get the kid to nap" walk.

Week stats (week ending May 1):
Total aerobic exercise: 291 min
bike: 70 min
run: 156 min
walk: 65 min

750 situps, 225 pushups (75 from the toes!)

April stats:
run: 552 min (at least 55 miles!)
bike: 455 min (at least 65 miles!)
walk: 483 min (at least 27 miles!)
situps: 2300
pushups: 720

That was fun.

Kathleen,

I started situps and pushups on 2/22. I started with 2 sets of 20 crunches and a set of 10 pushups, all from my knees. As these have gotten easier I have worked up to my current routine of 3 sets of 50 situps and 3 sets of 15 pushups, where the first 5 of each set is from my toes, with the remaining 10 on my knees. Next week I'll make another 5 of the first set of pushups from my toes. I started with just crunches, but a while ago I started adding in different types of situps, varying between crunches, different side situps or ones that work the lower abdominals more. I now do 75 of my 150 as crunches, and rotate through the other ones to make up the remaining 75. I have no idea if these other ones have names, I'm just recalling the torture from high school soccer practices.

It goes fast! In the last week or so I've been a bit upset about the fact that I'm not improving very much, but typing this out, I realize now how quickly I've gotten stronger.

Wow, I so hit the zone today!! I ran in the woods again, but took a smaller trail that you really have to concentrate on the trail so you don't trip and fall down a hill! It's very narrow, windy, and rocky. So distracting myself from running worked (i.e. hacky sack). I ran 60 minutes, further than earlier in the week, but I really have no idea how far.

Stats for the month:

week one: 65min running
week two: 135 min running
week three: 186 min running
week four: 250 min running !!!

total: 636 min running...about 53 miles (if I was averaging a 12 min mile, so maybe a little more, but not much).

I mapped it out by week because I was so pleased with my increases.

Wendy thanks for your suggestions about s/u and p/u. So you're saying that now you do a total of 150 situps and 45 pushups? That's awesome.

Natalie so you're doing sets of 65 and 35...how many? That's amazing! Thanks for the conversion, I will plot out the plan you gave me so that I have an idea of what to do. I really liked the plan by the way.

Wendy I hope you're feeling better soon! I hate spring colds.

You know I was really getting down on myself for feeling like I wasn't doing well and now I look at how much I leapt each week and no wonder it's been hard! I'm still really proud of what I've accomplished and hope to keep it up.

Thanks for the reccomendations.

Thanks. I was supposed to go meet a new baby today. I'm coughing and sneezing, so we cancelled.

Is this cold spring's fault? I'm still getting used to living somewhere with seasons.

I don't know that it's because of spring but I guess if you think about the temperamental weather, allergens and stuff I guess that could impact your bodies immune system and ability to combat colds and bugs.

I just hate feeling icky when all I want to do is get outside!

Although today here was gross...rainy, cold, yuck. But the cascades in the glen were AMAZING! The water was rushing so fast and furious from all the rain it was an awesome sight. So I shouldn't complain too much.

I never knew of using peppermint tea, although that makes sense. Do you ever drink echinacea tea?

Okay, my month stats are:

225kms-biking
83kms-running
60kms-walking/hiking(dogs)
10kms-blading
s/u-1400
p/u-600
I froze this morning biking home!! It was hailing, I still have a slight chill. So I drove to work tonight, I'm doing an 8hr shift, and didn't want to bike home in the drk, in the SNOW!!! That's right, it's freaking snowing here!!!

BBM~Glad you liked the training program. Looks challenging for sure. Mine is similar, but for a 10k.

CHEERS,
Nat

Where are you? Sounds great. I used to run on a fire trail above Berkeley, and it was like that in the rain as well.

I drink peppermint tea to suppress coughing, and because my daughter drinks it like most kids drink juice. IMNSHO, I would rather be sick for an extra day than drink echinacea tea.

Wow! I think we need to keep up the weekly totals, and add the end-of-the-month totals as well. The numbers are so... BIG!
Don't the numbers just make you feel awesome?!! I felt so good when I realized how much I had done this week and it was an off week.

I live in Ohio, just a bit south of you Wendy...remember you asked about your interview at OSU, I think it was? I hope I'm not getting confused.

Geo~I know, they are really big. I'm on a Canadian runners board, and they're posting their monthly stats, and they average like 220km//month!!!
Will we ever be there? Seems just crazy!!!RUN RUN RUN :LOL
post #92 of 97
Well, I didn't get out running today, way too much to do before I leave on Tuesday for my sister's graduation. I will get out tomorrow though.

So, my stats for the week were:
80 min running
48 min walking
350 situps
70 pushups

Not great, but I can feel myself improving. I'm really going to have to struggle to get exercise in this next week, maybe I can just grab short little runs here and there while someone watches Zoe for me. I'm going to bring my running shoes and hope.

You are all so inspiring to me , I will probably check in again in a week! Happy Running!

no running today. but I did do a 4.5 mile hike/walk (it was a hike in the sense of I was wearing my hiking boots). baby in jogger, dog on leash. We hit "the zone" -- mama feeling good, dog not going crazy and baby sleeping. ahhh. bliss.
kerc-I had to laugh when I read your post. That too, is my current definition of the "Zone", Mama feeling good, dog not going crazy, and baby sleeping.
Good morning ladies,

Wow- you all were posting fiends over the weekend. I checked in this a.m. and had two pages of posts to read! Sounds like everyone has been getting in some awesome runs and your totals for the week/month are great. I just started tracking my mileage in my palm but don't have it with me today so I'll just post my weekly total (I guess I could go back and reread threads but that would take too much time right now).

total for last week: 14.2 miles (3 runs - 4.5 mi, 4.2 mi and 5.5 mi)

The 5.5 mi run on Saturday was with my SIL and I managed to hang with her for the entire run. She's tall and runs A LOT and I think we were running an 8.5 min/mile on average - it was fast (to me). But it felt good. I really had to push myself to keep up.

I start following the training plan tomorrow.
Shatz I haven't seen an 8.5 min mile in years...Awesome job!!! Keep up the speedy feet!
