Here, finally, is my lil' whopper! After 3 ineffective days if induction (cervical dilators by night, and full throttle pitocin by day). Pitocin made me crampy, but never passed uncomfortable. Day 3 : with help of speculum they got a balloon dilator in me. That + pitocin got the ball rolling. After several painful attempts to break my waters, they managed to, and realized baby was looking up. Over night 4, With lots of pitocin had horrible pelvic bone pain, I kep thinking of my ikea pepper grinder's mechanism not working. No contractions, but near continuous pain. I got an epidural around 4:30 am, which was magical. I slept like a baby! When dr checked me at 7, I was 5 cm, and then at 9 am I was 10 cm. My dr brought in gruff OB to manipulate baby's sunny side up position, painful, but successful. I rested more and woke up feeling lightly pushy around 1ish. I was very droopy and running a fever. I pushed for 2 hrs, and got baby's head from 10cm away to 5. My dr and OB came in and said baby won't get past pubic bone, and there was some meconium in waters. OB (cut from old school breech deliveries/vbac/skilled w forceps) tried forceps. Didn't work, and I kept visualising the salad tongs my in-laws have us. So, they said, we've exhausted all options, csection time, which I was totally ok with. Csection was dreadful, I was shaking uncontrollably. But then we heard our baby cry. He is a whopping 10lbs3oz! My husband was terrified but fabulous these past 4 days. Doula was great at keeping me calm. My Dr was exceedingly supportive in her clear explanations of situations and willingness to consistently try every possible non csection option.

Anyway, my fever came back briefly in recovery room, and there are some concerns w mine and baby's blood sugar. Bundle of joy is great nurser. I sent my mother to get fill gloves w ice and she took quite a tumble on water spill at ice machine, so they took her down to ER. My uterus and incision hurt like a motherf**ker despite being on weak epidural and morphine. I HATE the uterine "massages". Anyway, baby is snugly joy and husband is phenomenal, so despite the ordeal well worth it.

Sorry for the hugely long drawn out induction. I shook horribly with my section from the drugs given to boost BP. I  hope recovery goes smoothy, c-sections can be pretty rough! Congratulations on your beautiful baby!

Oh and yes i remember very clearly the uterine massages/checking fundus. I held DH's hand for the first few and probably gripped it so tight he was in pain, too.

Cardigan, you're a rock star. Congratulations on the birth of your healthy baby boy! That is the most drawn-out induction story I've ver heard, and you gave it a hell of a go. I'm so glad your doctor was supportive of pursuing all vaginal avenues, but am also glad she finally made the call to help you get your baby born safely. My second was 9lb 11oz, positioned well, and my body had already birthed her 8lb 10oz brother, and it was the most painful and intense experience of my life, pushing me to the absolute edge of my limits, so I can only imagine how hard you and your body must have been working to birth your posterior bigger boy. Hats off to you. I hope your recovery is smooth and that you're able to make the most of your recovery time by snuggling with your baby. Happy Birthday, little dude!

Congratulations on your little man. I am glad you had the support you needed.
I had a very different birth, and still hated the "massages", they just hurt.like Edelweiss I had to squeeze husbands hand hard.

Cardigan- that's quite an ordeal to go through. I'm very glad that you are both well and I hope you have a quick and smooth recovery. I also hope your mom is okay.

Congratulations on your baby boy!

Cardigan, congratulations on your son! He's adorable! I'm sorry about the section, it sounds like you worked really hard for a vaginal delivery. One bit of advice for a better feeling abdomen after section is to stretch when you're out of bed. I just wanted to walk hunched over, but if you carefully stand upright it'll make a huge difference in pain. Hope you're able to get some good sleep!

Cardigan- wow! Congrats on your sweet baby boy! It must be very gratifying to know that you did all that you could to get him out before resorting to surgery. Good job, mama!

Congrats mamas on your new babies.  Cardigan, wow, what a crazy induction story.  So glad everything worked out.  I know how it is to try everything in hopes of avoiding the c-section.  He's a cutie.  Hope your mom is ok.

Can I just say Daaaaaaaaamn Cardigan! That is one wild ride and you are amazing for all that. I was kind of blown away at the time you had updated on all-day pitocin and the failed attempts to break your waters, but the plot really thickened didn't it? Good Lord! I had a 10 lb boy sunny side up and it was dramatic times, though not NEARLY as complicated and action-packed as your labor and birthing. I am sure you are exhausted (though hopefully high-fiving yourself for being awesome!) Hope you are getting some rest and peace with your sweet baby (and your mom is recovering, too). I read some great reviews of Earth Mama Angel Baby c-section cream on Amazon if you're looking for some soothing salve (no personal experience with it, but love their other ones).

That's another merit badge for sure. Welcome baby boy cardigan!

Oh my, Cardigan!! So happy and thankful that your son is here at last, but what a journey you had! You are indeed a strong woman with a lot of fight, to endure so much to bring your baby Earthside! Congratulations, and may you heal quickly!
