I had my first 3 in a hospital none of which was a horrible experience other than the OB lying to me about numerous things and being annoyed by practically everything like not being fed real food or practically any food for that matter, nurses waking me at all hours, telling me how to breastfeed, arguing with me about everything... Anyway- this will hopefully be my third home birth.
My suggestions for random things :
plastic tablecloths are great. I sometimes use them on my table and when they get a rip on them I put tape over the rip and then pack them away for the birth. We have covered every area where the baby might be or "fluids and/or solids" might end up. Then throw them all away :) They work awesome lol I should start saving again..
grape juice for labor.
celebratory meal for afterwards in the freezer to thaw while in labor :) I am always starved after and want food right way!
short night gowns? I sweat and like to change them frequently- although I think I probably end up naked- I don't actually remember? But I think naked works too lol. I would never ever ever do that in a hospital!
Comfrey leaf for a bath tea- takes the ache out of all the achy parts
lots of bottles of peroxide- my actual births have been completely mess free- it is those drips after that I have a problem with...
I think that is it- your birth kit should have all the medical necessities you will need.
