Good news, BDoody! Sorry you're otherwise feeling yucky, it all sounds very familiar. Hope that baby comes soon for you!
I'm off to get a pedicure with some girlfriends. I've never had one, I'm so excited!
bdoody11 - I am 37 weeks and I know how you feel. I have had little patience for my 2 kids lately due to being so tired, huge, and uncomfortable. Everything seems like an olympic event these days, from going up and down the stairs to hauling my big butt off the couch. And yeah, my hips ache a lot when I wake up in the morning too. Is there anyway you can get DH or someone to take the kids for a day to get a break, take a breather? That is great about being GBS- though, one less thing to worry about!
cardigan - I second the hospital tour if you haven't already. It helps me to have an idea of what I am walking into. My first two were at the hospital and just so you know, after the birth it's actually really nice to be have meals brought to you, to not have to clean, and basically be made to just lay down and snuggle with baby. So there are definite benefits if that helps at all.
Calladonna - NAP.
Emily - any update on your father? I hope whatever is going on can be easily treated.
I had my home visit with my midwives today! They actually scolded me for cleaning so much and said it wasn't necessary but than said everyone seems to do that. However the kids are gone, this is my chance to clean! The appointment was great. I am GBS negative as well, baby is still head down and getting lower, BP was great and all that stuff. BHs are getting stronger these days and I have some good streaks in the evenings but nothing that turns into anything. At 37 weeks that's a good thing. We got a ton done today both inside and outside the house but I am thankful I can just veg out the rest of the day. Feeling a little dehydrated and sore after all that.
The dog and the cat are sort of getting used to each other. The cat has finally ventured downstairs even when the dog is around although the dog still wants to bark and chase her. He really doesn't seem to comprehend that another animal wouldn't love him to death despite the cat clearly posturing to say "I DON'T LIKE YOU". Lol. She knows how to get just close enough to a hiding spot to torment him into chasing her and then disappearing. Kind of entertaining to watch actually.
bdoody11 I hear you. I am 39 on Sunday and the only thing keeping me from going off the edge all together is that my dad gets in the night before to help take care of everything (that is not birth, he wants to be gone for that).
I am getting nothing done. My to do list this afternoon was lie down with my two year old for a nap and drink a coke. She did not want to nap. On the bright side her vocabulary of TV shows is ever increasing.
Cardigan. Check out as much about the hospital as you can and see what is Ok and what needs to be tweaked. Where my first was born had great food. my second terrible (but the cafeteria was great, so had I known, I would have send husband down to get me breakfast). Labour rooms in both were good and once I was into it I would not have noticed.
I'm feeling nesty today! I decided that the changing table needed to be moved and hauled it out of one bedroom to another. I imagine DH is going to be upset that I did it myself, but at the moment it felt very necessary. Anyway, I seem to be coming out of my sluggish state, which is an amazing feeling! DS is napping right now and as soon as I finish indulging in some computer time I'm going to put away some laundry and do clean-y things. Hurray!
Thinking about it, I'm guessing the weather has something to do with my feeling so perky. It's cool and damp today, good Pacific Northwest weather!
Hoping for babies for all the women anxious to be done!
Pedicures are the bomb. Why haven't I done one of those before? It didn't put me into labor, but that's ok. ;) We ate across the street at a local place that does bakery in the morning and pizza at night. The guy behind the counter swears that their cruller donuts have put people into labor. I told him I'd be back maybe next week then. They have the best apple fritters too...mmm...
I can't figure my son out. He's all boy, loves superheroes and monster trucks, the whole nine yards. But this morning he wanted to watch My Little Ponies and he was fascinated. He drives me crazy, but I love his randomness. And I think he'll be a good big brother.
GIS Diva, my son has a thing for Angelina Ballerina.
We have no brodcast tv, just a Roku, so the kids watch Netflix, PBS and Amazon, all preschooler shows since Monkey finds lots of thing scary (like Strawberry Shortcake). They are watching Pinky DInky Doo right now. Most of it decent quality as kids tv goes and Monkey is learning some decent jokes out of the whole thing.
Yes the watch too much. Yes we will work on that. You know, in October.
We also do the iPad games, which I quite like. Toca Boca ones are my favourites. They also like the iPad version of A Monster at the End of the book.
Completely with you! DH has been preparing a ton of snacks and such that we can take with us to the Birth Center (they don't provide any food) and scoping out the area for take out after delivery if we have too. But if I remember correctly I was so hungry after delivery last time I scarfed down the hospital food without a second thought.
GISDiva: Glad you enjoyed the pedi. Love them. I have one tomorrow and CAN NOT WAIT! I never do my fingernails but if I could afford it I would have my toes done every other week.
Songbird: Sounds like your warming up too! I have been pretty much cramping on and off for the past 4 days now. I am just getting worried that i am not going to know when this is real. Although I am so ready! Is the full moon really the 6th? That's a great day for me:)
AFM: 38 weeks today. Still at work, cramping away on and off with no real pattern and no real strength. sometimes they take my breath away a little. No other signs really.
Had a lovely afternoon yesterday, got my haircut for the last time before baby. My hairdresser is just finishing her 1st trimester and is young and energetic and bubbly and we spent the time talking about pregnancy and babies. I am envious of her youth.
THen I met with our doula for tea. It was really nice, she has attended multiple births this past month (I think she and her partner had 5 just last week) and so our contact has been pretty limited. All of her July mommas have delivered and I am her only birth for August. We spent a good long while talking about ME which was great :) I loved her enthusiasm when I told her I was GBS negative, she just seems to get how important that was to me. We also got a chance to review some of my preferences and what to do when labor starts. I think she was trying to help, but she did tell me that she just assisted in a birth where the woman had very minor "menstrual like" cramps up until her water broke, walked into the hospital at 6 cm and when she (the doula) arrived 45 minutes later she was at 10 and delivered. That's a little scary to me, especially since I am still working! We also "decided" that this sunday, monday or tuesday would all be good days to have a baby (without knowing about the full moon!) DS's birthday party is from 11-12:30 on Sunday. I am good to go at 12:30.
August 6th is a New Moon (a magical time for new beginnings), so still a great time for some births mamas! The full moon isn't until the 20th of this month.
Coffee, pack a picnic and hang out near water! (At least that is what I want to do with my 3.5yo today ) I am only 36+ weeks, but cool water and food sound like heaven to me all of the time right now. Happy due date to you, I hope it treats you well!
