I have a 9 weeks old baby, he was doing fine till day before yesterday apart from some reflux problem. Because of the reflux he would never sleep on his back, so he was always sleeping on either on his right side or on left. But yesterday all of a sudden, when he was in a swing he suddenly stiffed his both arms and legs upward, his face become red and the eyes were like coming out. It went for like 4-5 seconds and as soon as it over he started yelling and crying. Initially we thought may be its because of the gas or wind. So we thought it would be ok. Then he did it again when we were changing his diaper on the dresser lying on his back L and did it again and again whenever we put him on his back. But before yesterday he used to play on the dresser like for some time and he never did it earlier. So we went to the GP and explained him the situation and he did it again when he was lying on the table (again on his back) and GP saw it. But he said he thinks it related to the reflex, the baby becomes uncomfortable and that’s why he is doing this. But when he is in our arms or in lap he never does it and also he didn’t do it even on the dresser when I was holding his both arms but will do it again as soon as I leave him untouched and just stand in front of him. Any thoughts what it could be??? Did someone ever faced the same situation….. We are really worried please help.....

My little one did the same thing again today after 10 days. Even today he was having too much reflux and he again did it when we lied him on his back. But when we pick him up he was quite normal and did not do it again. Could you please suggest what it could be?? I am trying to get the appointment with doc......Please reply....really worried...
Hang in there, Mama. I know how worrisome this can be--I went through the very same thing with my refluxy baby 2.5 years ago. She is thriving now.
Hi! Just wanted to post to say that my baby did this exact sort of thing at about the same age. It only lasted a week or so? We are ECing him, and the first time it happened, I was holding him on the potty, and his older sister was in front of him, saying "hi." He opened his arms up really wide, and then it was like a startle reflex or something. He got all panicked and cried very hard. It only happened maybe half a dozen times, and it hasn't happened since. I mentioned it to a friend of mine, and she agreed that it was probably developmental. He's now 4 months old, everything fine. Hope its just something simple! Good luck.
