Oh man, I've had a really crappy start to this month.

Was meant to spend $100 at the farmer's market - ended up spending $170 and I still need to buy groceries at the supermarket.

Then we had take away twice in one weekend! Once, because we had spent 5 hours out on Saturday and stupid me didn’t pack any food for the kids or myself because I did not anticipate the trip would take longer than 2 hours. On top of the 5 hours of wandering around aimlessly, we would have been a good hour before we were due to get home and start making something.. So I caved and purchased food on site. Today we had take out as well because I had a whopper of a headache and couldn’t bring myself to make anything for dinner (we have zero convenience food at our place to boot). Really pee'd about it all, but chalk it down to lesson learned - Always bring along food no matter how long you think you're going to be!

This weekend (3rd and 4th): 276.93 (farmer's markets, medicine for myself, a few groceries but have not fulfiled the list for this week, take out x 2). I'm 76 over for this week already and still need to buy more groceries!

The more optimistic and motivated I am, the more dude-icons I use.  Lots of dude-icons this month.  I'm going to be using a star-type system to rate how frugal my day was.  Here goes!

1.  eyesroll.gif Ended up spending $ while out with a friend because we didn't anticipate being out beyond lunch time and my kids were starving! $15

The AC is out in my van so when we got to the store we were all so hot and sick that we got drinks asap.

What I will do to keep this from happening again: Always pack snacks and water when we go out. I will make muffins this weekend and freeze them to throw in a lunch box as we leave the house as well as sit our gallon water bottle by the door so I remember to fill it up.

Yeah, this sweet streak is about to end.  Fair is this week, and we have to be there nearly every day with the chickens.  Always so much fun, but a struggle to keep expenses down.

Gearing up for another camping trip this weekend.  No tent fees to pay since we will be with a group in a free field, but I am considering buying a couple of camp chairs.  My bottom is tired of sitting on the hard ground.

Oh how i need this thread right now! I am a recently seperated single mom of two little girls with no steady income so I HAVE to stop spending. Credit cards are NO LONGER and option.

Here is my intro:

Who you are?

My name is Emily and I have to stop spending money!! I have two small Etsy businesses that are generating a very small amount of cash, but I want to start paying my family back for all they have lent me and also paying off the two credit cards I have. And I have bills on top of it. I have never really done finances before since my husband always did them. I am extremely frugal, but I need to learn all the ins and outs of paying bills on time and also knowing how much money we have and not relying on someone handing me an amount of money every week (no matter how small it is!).

Where you are going (your financial goals)

Pay off credit, build a savings, be able to pay bills

How you plan to get there

Accounting for every penny I spend and take in. Keeping my Etsy finances seperate from family finances.

Thanks all!!

6  orngbiggrin.gif Limited, budgeted spending.  Drove out of my way to get high calorie supplement for my (probably) dying cat (not budgeted, of course), but I won't count that against me.gloomy.gif  It's my 2yo cat, too, who we adopted as a stray.  Both his siblings died from this, and I thought he was out of the woods, but a year after his brother died, he's not looking  like he will survive this. Meanwhile, my 18.5yo cat is off happily hunting mice.  Go figure.

I spent a wee bit at the pool today for ice cream bars.  What I really need to do is a run for groceries.  Our fridge is bare and we are out of laundry soap.  We are going to be hungry and smelly soon if I don't get my act together and go to the store.

I've got to figure out a way to stop my kids from buying popcorn at our community pool.  I bought a huge bag from the grocery store...but then I ate it all myself.  I have to think of a plan B.
