The more optimistic and motivated I am, the more dude-icons I use.  Lots of dude-icons this month.  I'm going to be using a star-type system to rate how frugal my day was.  Here goes!

Shoot.  My dryer is broken.  I pulled it apart this morning and found that the heating coil is busted.  I am headed to the hardware store now to see if I can get a replacement part.  If not, I'll order one on line.

So, spending some money today.   And yes, I could live without a dryer, but I am just not up for it right now.  Four kids and a hubby who travels non-stop is all ready enough of a load on my shoulders.

Will report back with the official tally.

Good job pulling it apart and seeing if u can fix it rather than just financin whole new dryer.

Thanks.  Dryers are really easy, especially the older models.  And Google and YouTube are great -- I got a step by step video that walked me through it.

Wasn't able to get the part today, but I ordered it.  $84.

Shockingly, I spent no money today.    I window shopped like crazy -- walked around downtown and checked out shoes and bikes and fancy kitchen things, pretty candles and furniture.  It was lovely to be out with the family on a beautiful day and comforting to know that we can look without buying.

I'm joining in late, after freaking out about our bank balance (or lack thereof).

Here's my "grading scale":

banana.gif- Not a single penny spent

eyesroll.gif- Spent money today, legitimately unavoidable

duh.gif- Spent money that I could have avoided spending

I almost bought dinner out because I was so exhausted when I picked up the kids after work, but instead we did quick and easy dinner at home.  I need to remember when I'm meal planning that weeknight dinners really do need to be easy to avoid the temptation of eating out.

20 demon.gif Bought bedding.  This should probably be a double-demon day because I spent so much, but we were gifted some money, and the girls desperately needed some good bedding.  We have been sharing the same bed for 8.5 years!  Now they are in their own.  I have to buy better quality bedding because with allergies, we are hard on our sheets and blankets.  *Everything* gets washed in hot or scalding water as often as every week, and it destroys comforters and blankets.  I will say I had the presence of mind to sign up for their emails first, and get 15% of my first order, so that saved us $60.
