We have an 8 week old baby, our first. I had an adverse reaction to the DPT vaccine (made my chronic fatigue much worse, had a mono-like reaction immediately), and our pediatrician said she understands my worries, and we can take our time vaccinating our baby. My son is going in for his 8 week checkup, and I am considering letting them give him one vaccine, to see how he reacts, and get me used to the process. Which one has the fewest reported problems, among mothers who are in the know? (sorry to use such a corny phrase) Not really looking for the CDC's data, unless you actually have it.
I would consider the MMR to be the opposite of what I'm looking for.....lots of reported reactions, etc. Even though I understand they don't give it to 2 month olds, anyways. The ones he is scheduled for are:
DPT, polio inactivated, HIB (haemophilius influenza type b), pneumococcal disease (prevnar 13), Hep B, Rotavirus.
I was thinking polio? I see formaldehyde as an indgredient, but I didn't see any mention of aluminum, mercury, etc....and I don't know of anyone who has had a reaction to it, and it's been a vaccine for awhile (unlike rotavirus, which is newer). Thoughts?
We go in tomorrow! So please, go ahead an give your two cents!!! :) Thank you.
