Weight gain?

Is anyone else concerned with weight gain?
I am 30-40lbs overweight and worried about this.
I gained 30lbs with last preg. I lost about 20-25 lbs of that weight but I had already been overweight to begin my first preg.
I'm hoping to keep things under control this time. I know my diet is better this time around, especially since I'm responsible for feeding my 1st child now. Worried about the fatigue kicking in and falling back on bad food habits. Also, I need to dig in a find some energy for some exercise....

I am much more than that overweight, so I am trying to continue to eat the way I have the last six months (have lost quite a bit) as well as exercise and not gain.

Hopefully we can encourage each other smile.gif
I'm thinking of seeing a nutritionist for some suggestions.

Doing my best to eat sensibly & not worry.

If it helps the CPM who assisted with my younger two never weighed me.

We don't have a scale at home but my pants are already tight on my legs and stomach.  I feel I already look pregnant too.  I'm going to try hard to keep going to the gym.  I don't think my core recovered from my last c-section 14 months ago!  I was just thinking of looking into physical therapy before I got pregnant.  Does anyone know if it's safe to do core exercises while pregnant.  I have my first midwife appointment at the end of the month so I'll ask her then.

I'm 5 weeks and have already gained 3 lbs. I Crossfit and will continue to do so while pregnant. I'm just surprised that in 1 week I've already gained weight. I haven't had any cravings, I'm not extra hungry and am not eating any more than I usually do. It's just weird! I don't usually weigh myself but I did it this week only because I felt like my stomach already looked bigger.

I'm 5 weeks and also have gained 2-3 lbs (depending on the day). I feel super bloated too and some of my pants/shorts are feeling tight around my lower belly. It seems too early for this, doesn't it? How will I feel in 9 months?!?

I plan to keep an eye on my weight a bit more this time, though as long as I eat fairly healthy and can get moving regularly I probably won't do much else. With DD I gained 55 lbs and while I actually lost it all plus an extra 5 lbs I'm a little worried if I'll be able to do it again with two little ones keeping me busy. Plus my knees get sore and I'm sure carrying extra weight doesn't help.

I have also gained a magic 3 pounds despite staying active and having normal eating habits to even possibly less than normal. I started out heavier (although stronger) than with my other 2. I was just a few pounds shy of my pre-nursing school weight (and I graduated a year ago, sigh) when we conceived. I don't want to think too much about my weight but the fluffier look made me curious so I stepped on the scale today...

What's with this 3lbs?! Hopefully next week I either don't gain anymore or at least just stay the same. My youngest is 6 and I gained about 30lbs with him. I'm hoping to stay in that range during this pregnancy. The difference is I've been very active for the 2 years prior to this baby. Now that I'm used to working out I won't have a problem staying active this time around.

Blood volume increases at the beginning of pregnancy so that could account for a bit of weight at the beginning, I think.

Rducky I would love to blame it on that but I don't recall the scale really moving at all yet for me before... Heck, I am only a few lbs shy of what I weighed halfway through my last pregnancy lol! Rolling with the punches and trying not to eat too much junk at work in my attempts to keep the nausea away. :-P

I'm not super worried about weight gain during the pregnancy -- I know I'll gain some, and I'm pretty confident it'll come off again. That said, last pregnancy I gained 40 pounds and it was a bit too much. I'm 5'2" and I started out at 120, so it was a big gain on me. It took 18 months to lose it -- I actually wound up a few pounds lighter than I was going in. I was quitting smoking (I was a heavy smoker when I got unexpectedly pregnant) and I blame the quitting smoking for a good 10 or 15 pounds. Plus I'd get tired in the afternoon and get a soda and candy bar. My eating habits are a ton healthier nowadays. I figure as long as I'm staying active and making good eating choices, I'll gain a healthy amount of weight and lose it relatively quickly.

After I started crossfit I actually gained about 7 pounds of muscle. My clothes fit like I weigh less, but I have solid quads, arm muscles and core strength.

I don't know but I'd like to know.  I plan on asking my midwife too.  I'm already looking pregnant, too, apparently!  I'm seven weeks on Wednesday, and when we told DP's parents, his dad was all, "Oh, I was wondering.  Because you look" and then he made the "round belly" gesture.  And I was like, "Uh.... that's from the last baby."

Count me in as "already looking pregnant" too. My regular pants fit for a little while in the morning and then increasing bloat forces me to put on something more comfortable. I seem to have much more lower belly than before. I have a feeling I will be shopping for maternity pants when the weather starts to break.

ETA: I also have put on the 3 pounds.

I looked pregnant before I was pregnant (got asked 3 times in the past few months) because I never lost the belly from #1. I lost all my weight BF but gained it all back when we cut that out. I currently weigh what I did at 9 months last time and am about 40 lbs overweight. I hate it so much. I can't wait to start feeling pregnant and put on maternity clothes.

I will start prenatal yoga soon to firm up, and I've made myself a vow to work off the baby belly after this one.

I'm worried about weight gain - and I hate that! It feels shallow, but that was one of my first thoughts when I realized I might be pregnant. I've managed to get pregnant with 6 or so pounds left from each previous pregnancy - so yea, about 18 pounds heavy here. I work out, but we moved 6 weeks ago, so other than some hikes/walks and one random run (b/c it was raining!) I've had little exercise for 8 weeks.

I plan on snapping back into it FAST.

Joining a gym.

I get super ill throughout my entire pregnancies, but I'm determined - if it's more of the same - not to let that make me become inactive. Last pregnancy was the hardest, b/c there was no gym in our area and I became sedentary - My body ached - it was harder to regain strength afterwards - so not this time. And I've learned to use mind over matter with cravings/intolerances. I'll be 37 when I give birth - I need to stay strong!!!

This is also a concern for me, but it's a concern for me when I'm not pregnant too.  I've been bouncing around between pre preg weight and a pound more over the summer (143-144) and this morning I was 145.  I work out 4-5 days/wk and hoping to continue.  I do Jillian Michaels workouts and I run.  Last pregnancy I gained around 43 lbs, and I had lost it by 10 1/2 months post partum.  Hoping for 35 lb gain this time around, but who knows!

I always gain about 40 lbs and its always in my belly and the belly does not really go away.  I am really trying to boost my leg strength so maybe this time it will be in my legs and butt a little bit.  I know it doesn't work that way but a girl can hope.  I was also way more sedentary my last pregnancy and it was tough on my body.  So far I have been off to a good start though.
