Weekly chat thread August 4-11th - Page 4
Woah, Songbird, you have a lot going on. Hope having your mom up will be helpful. So sorry about the nausea, mine has returned too but i am able to cope still without meds (although the bottle is still sitting in the cabinet, just in case). Not too much longer!
AFM: 39 weeks today! Woohoo! Still having on/off again cramping. occasionally there will be one that takes my breath away, but not consistent. Felt really weird yesterday. Can't put my finger on it all, just foggy and nauseaus and extremely fatigued. I drank a ton of water and protein (including some Five Guys:) Bounced on my yoga ball for a good hour last night, and will do some stair climbing tonight. Drinking 1-2 cups of RRL tea each day. MW appt first thing tomorrow a.m. I'm trying not to get annoyed with others asking when the baby's coming, I know they are just excited too. Any day now would be perfectly fine with me.
GISDiva, craving sugar here! I imagine it would be tough to have all the work treats around.
Bdoody, I hope the membrane sweep will get things going for you!
Songbird, sorry about the move! It's certainly not fun to move when pregnant or with a baby. I hope you will get the beautiful birth you want!
Jillgayle, sounds like you're getting ready! Yay!
Calladona, interesting that you're able to ignore prodromal labor!
Whew, have to get the rest of my baby stuff done this weekend. 38 weeks tomorrow.
Banana - that henna is absolutely beautiful!
songbird - we have moved sooo many times and have done it with a newborn too so I understand your stress. I hope it goes smoothly and that this can be the last one for awhile.
Sorry for all the nausea going around but hopefully that means you will be holding your babies soon!
emily- I totally agree how we need to normalize nursing. It drives me nuts how most people can look at a Victoria Secret billboard without batting and eye but scoff at someone actually using boobs for their intended purpose! Where we lived in Colorado, nusring in public was not uncommon, but it seems NOBODY does it around here, and formula feeding is much more typical. That should make things interesting for me since I have no problem whipping out the boob regardless of where I am.
Not a whole lot of pre-labor signs here but I am hoping she will wait until next week anyway when my MIL and the girls come back. Drinking RRL tea though, trying to walk everyday and DTD to help encourage DD3 to at least get ready to make her entrance. DTD is becoming a very awkward chore though, it seems neither of us can get comfortable with my gigantic belly in the way. am craving sugar a lot too though! I want donuts and sugary cereal and peaches. Since we are all 37+ weeks I have to wonder if our bodies are trying to carbo-load before labor? When I eat a lot of carbs before a long race I am usually a lot healthier about it at least (whole grain pasta and brown rice as opposed to donuts!).
More DTD and finding some suprisingly comfortable positions. Getting done prego is motivating me to get kids to sleep in their own beds so we can keep it up.
I need to make more RRL or as my dad calls it uterus tea. I am liking it half and half with lemon aid.
My close midwife, who I have assumed will deliver is out of town this weekend, so I hope Murphy's law kicks in and baby come.
Leigh--lol@ "uterus tea". Ha ha....
Crunchy and others--yes! I am craving carbs too! Yesterday a friend brought muffins and I was all over it, where usually it wouldn't appeal to me. I've lost some appetite, but definitely preferring sweet to savory!
Calladona--I know you are so glad your mom is almost there. I want my mom more this time than with either previous pregnancy.
Jillgayle--hooray for 39 weeks!!!! I'm right behind you, girl!
So some friends of ours thought it would be a good idea to throw their son a 4th birthday party outside at a community pool at 9 am this morning. Which would be fine, I guess, except that my 5 year old still needs supervision in the water, I live in the hot **s desert, and I don't wanna be 38 weeks pregnant on display and with a bunch of kicking kids in a community pool anyway! Since we are moving, I want the kids to see their friends, but I really just want to stay home and drink cherry icees. My 8 year old is a champ of a swimmer ( hell, she could probably save me if need be) and has offered to watch her brother, but I just feel like that's too much responsibility for her. So I will probably be out in the blazing desert sun this morning. Great.
Plenty of contractions and discomforts going on here. I am having some....er....itchiness, and I know the carbs don't help, but I don't think I have the energy and discipline right now to do a full-on yeast protocol. I'm really tempted to just go to the drug store and grab something over the counter!!
Hope all of my August sisters are doing well--those with babies Earthside and those of us still waiting!!!
You can get them at target.
Songbird, Another quick remedy that helped me with itchiness last week... washing off with a mild shampoo and a drop of tea tree oil (soap just makes me itchier, even if it is mild), then I went pantiless for the day. Although THAT may not work at a pool party! But you could wash off a couple of times today and just let everything breathe whenever you can be at home in a skirt or dress... Hope you feel better! And the floaty thing that Banana recommended, YES! It's the best!
Susan, Oh... that's where I was yesterday. I hope everything chills out for you until tomorrow at least. I took a hot shower yesterday when things felt like they were ramping up, then drank a beer last night. Seemed to mellow everything out here. Good luck!
Oh-- and thanks for the recs for solutions to my itchiness. I'm lying in bed and my husband is reading (aloud) something online about the rotation of the sun and the galaxy and a cosmic year and a black hole at the center of the Milky Way and I'm like WTF? Do you realize I've got low-level, real life issues like an itchy vag and a 9 am birthday pool party to deal with??? Can you just tame your intellectual curiosity for a few minutes or keep it to yourself so I can focus and get this day going??? Yes, I am 9 days from my due date and very irritable. Ha hah!
Hang in there, Calladonna! I hope this baby has good timing!!!
Bdoody-- a cold sounds so sucky right now! I hope you feel better soon!!!!
Pink on the TP, but the contractions have spaced out and stopped... for now. Talked to my mom and she could come up today if needed (thought likely would be too late to be of help). Put the kids through the bath and washed the girls' hair (a nightmare with my second who is terrified of anything to do with messing with her head/hair). Phew, last time I should need to mess with that until well after baby comes... Yes, I only wash her hair about every other month. :/ You would too if you had to deal with her. If haircuts weren't even MORE traumatic, I'd just keep her hair really short...
Banana, mimosa sounds good. If my contractions pick up later, I think I will break out the half bottle of wine in our fridge that needs drinking anyway. ;)
bdoody, feel better!!
songbird, we actually picked up full on lifejackets for our kids for that situation... I still get anxious though...
