Granted, I'm short, so I don't have to hunch over as much to help my kids walk. But, I really can't see taking the time bust out a contraption and strap it to your child every time they want to practice walking. Plus, how long is a baby in that phase of needing help balancing when they are learning to walk? My baby just went through it, and it can't have been much more than 3 weeks.
I do love my baby monitor though. I thought I wouldn't need it when ds1 was a baby because we lived in a small apartment and the bedroom was right next to the living room where I was usually hanging out. But after I finally got one, I realized how often I was jumping at every little noise (neighborhood dog bark, crowd noise on tv, etc) that I thought could be the baby waking up. Having the monitor lets me relax more, because I know I don't have to listen as carefully.
