ideas/suggestions for starting a "family bed"

Hi all,

My son just turned 9 months.  He slept in a cosleeper until about 4 months.  He was getting too big/too mobile for it so we moved him to his crib in a separate nursery.  He slept well there until about 6 1/2 months.  Now he's up at least every 2 hours (whether I nurse him or not.)  We've decided to try the family bed since it's the only place where he sleeps well.  I'd love some ideas for the safest and most comfortable ways to set this up so that my husband, son, and I can all start to sleep again!  Thanks!

That's wonderful you are going to try it! A king size bed is a great place to start, buy not necessary. When my kids were really small I had them on the side near the wall, I was in the middle. My husband is an active sleeper. Also this was the baby can be in a sleep sack and didn't have to share covers with us. Just make sure that the baby is safe near the wall, that it won't get stuck or smothered. By the time my kids were able to roll over and crawl they usually slept in the middle. Good luck, hope it brings you all good sleep:)
