Hi Ladies, I returned to work (at a new job) a couple weeks ago and am pumping three times a day for my 5 month old son. So far, I have been able to use a coworker's office, who happened to be on vacation for my first few weeks. She's back now and I've asked HR for another location to pump. Basically, this is what they proposed: another coworker offered her office. And if she is using her office when I need to pump, another coworker offered her office. And as a last resort, the HR director (part time) offered me his office the days when he is not at work. While I appreciate their generosity, this solution doesn't sit well with me and makes me feel a bit anxiety ridden! The fact that I'll have to coordinate with one or more people on a daily basis to pump stresses me out! And I'll have to displace someone from their own space...that feels awful, and like I'm 'putting them out' no matter how compassionate or generous they are. I feel like I have to align my pumping schedule with my coworkers schedule and then if there is an overlap, I have to work at finding an alternative...every day. In an ideal world, there would be one space that is not occupied by any one else, for me to use when necessary...a place that wouldn't require daily coordinating.
My question is...do you think it's worth pushing back and asking for a better solution? Or should I be grateful that people are trying to accommodate me at all?
