It seems not much goes on here but I really could use an active group. I really am a mess about having only one child and the desire for another, for myself but also so DD has a sibling.
Parents of an Only Child
I am a mess about having only one, anyone else?
I just got out of a year of depression and while in my low state, the only child thing haunted me like crazy.
I am in a happier state now and suddenly feel very confident about our only child circumstance/ decision.
Just offering my perspective. I really hope you find peace in your life first. Hugs!
My heart is with you. We all come to our only-child families for different reasons: some of us chose to create a single-child family, while others would like to have more children but were/are hindered by circumstances like secondary infertility or financial constraints. Even those of us who chose to limit our families to one child wonder (and perhaps grieve) about the siblings our son or daughter could have had, the children we could have raised.
Whatever you end up deciding, may it be the best choice for you and your family, and may you receive peace, resolution, and fulfillment from that choice.
