Now to introduce myself! I'm Wendy, born and raised in Michigan and was an engineer that was applying to med school while living in Chicago when we got pregnant with our first. My DH is this amazing guy that just "gets" AP, crunchy hippie birthing and parenting stuff. I'm so grateful to be on this journey with him. We both decided we thought birth was "normal" and had an immediate connection with the first midwife we interviewed... And she has become such a close friend and beacon of light for me! I've birthed both of my babies at home in the water with relatively short labors 4 & 3.5 hrs). DS was born 12/27/10 (2 weeks late) and DD was born 6/20/12 (almost 3 wks early)!
We are a pretty AP, gentle parenting, outdoorsy, Waldorf focused (just started some pre-k curriculum with DS and circle time), babywearing, cloth diapering, EBF, BLW, organic/sustainable WAPF foodies. I'm far from perfect, but we strive.
We now live in Wyoming where my DH is running a $20m cattle ranch and works 6 days a week, 70+ hrs. We both love it here but it will be an adjustment with a new baby as before, in Michigan, we were less than a mile from 7 family members and DH worked for the family business 5 miles away. I'm considering UP/UC this pregnancy, but we're 45 minutes from the closest hospital... Lots to discuss. We used to raise all our own meat, eggs and veggies and will do so again soon once we are more settled (moved to WY 6 months ago).
I chart but had taken a little break so I'm not sure exactly when I ovulated. Thrilled to be pregnant! Still nursing both kids, but I have a feeling the 2.5 year old will wean soon - he's already mentioned yucky milk.
Love being outside, cooking, reading, former college runner so I have thoughts of grandeur of working out everyday, Waldorf stuff, LOVE babywearing, knitting and sewing.
