I decided to tell DH (or rather crying eyes out for an hour considering options) go back to sleep and call the doula and midwife the next day. They suggested to get to the hospital as my backup and I did so. My midwife is still on vacation so she didn't end up even accompanying me to the hospital.
I was given a cervix softener then pitocin after checking with zero dilation and effacement. Once labor picked up it was VERY fast (4 hours and she FLEW out, I barely pushed!). I received zero pain meds because of my amazing, kind and beautiful doula!!!
Lillian Adora arrived on Aug. 27th at 10:50am weight 4lbs. 8oz. and is a perfect little peanut. She nursed within 20 minutes of birth and has a fantastic latch. No breathing issues (thank goodness!!!) so she wasn't admitted to the NICU. She even gained .6oz a few hours later! I am nursing her like crazy to avoid supplementation.
We've had a blood glucose scare and now am dealing with what pediatrician we will see about a slightly elevated jaundice test result.
I'm thinking about getting some donated breast milk from my holistic mamas group but not sure about introducing bottles so I might syringe feed. She's hungry!!!
Still trying to wrap my brain around the fact that I have a baby and its only Aug. 28th!
Sad about my homebirth and all the prep and money I've spent so far. But happy overall with my birth experience. I'm also a bit scared about Lillian being a "preemie" and what that means in terms of care. DH got 3 weeks off and I'm hoping will take another week. We are so happy for a healthy baby and are just in love with her.
She's still got lots of vernix-- we haven't bathed her yet!
