Yay, I get to start the thread! Ready.....GO!

Please pray for our family. My husband broke his arm, and because he works construction, he might not be able to work. If he doesn't work, he won't be able to take off when the baby comes or possibly even for the birth, nor will we have money to hire help during labor or postpartum. If the baby comes before my due date, he likely still will have a very limited ability to help me during labor and postpartum. I feel so stressed out. Please pray for the baby to stay inside until my due date and for his work to have light duty work to offer him. Thank you.

Thanks! Here I am! :blowkiss I didn't mean to disappear. I just realized all of a sudden that I hadn't been getting notifications.

Things are going swimmingly, so far! DS is acting up...school started and I guess he's starting to get used to being here, and used to being around M-- tell you what, though, that's a good thing. He really has respect for M and M doesn't take any duff from ds at all. M is still learning ds...as in, what he's like with and without meds, when and whether to ramp up the humor (ds spirals out of control with that and you have to know when to put the brakes on, that kind of thing). But so far it's working.

I start orientation for my job on Wednesday. I'm excited that so far I appear to have gotten the job I wanted (even from back in Asheville), but I don't want to work at all and I'm still trying to wrap my mind around having to do that.

We have health insurance! Both of us! I can't get used to that. DS's meds are FREE. At the discount we got in NC, they were still $70/month. I love our apartment. I like the neighborhood-- except for the car wash across the street, which wouldn't be bad if people vacuuming out their cars thought the whole world wanted to hear their music sometimes, but it's usually pretty quiet here.
The trains are right down the road next to the highway. I love trains. I grew up with them and could hear them in Asheville and I am SO HAPPY I can see/hear them right there. I know they bug other people, but I love them.

Anyway-- what else?

Maia - Glad to hear things are going well.  DS acting up - is it bad or just normal adjusting behavior?  I am glad that he and M are taking to each other.

What is your job??  Sending lots of good energy for that one!

LOVE all the good news about the health insurance, apartment, neighborhood, etc.  SO SO SO pleased for you.

Nothing much going on here.  Trying to get back into a routine of sorts.  Feeling all sorts of discombobulated like I need to be still for a long, long period of time.  Trying to figure out how to make that work.  Probably logging off of facebook would be helpful.  ha.

Revolting - Any news about your husband? How is his arm? Hoping that things turned out OK and they were able to find some light duty work for him.

Happy September Mamas!

I have been obsessed with buying things with owls on it for this baby and last night, there was an owl on our roof, hooting away for a few minutes while we were in bed. This AM I woke up with period-like cramping. I guess the owl was heralding the soon arrival of our baby? I have just been monitoring things all day. Trying not to get too excited - I know this is a preview and could stop at anytime.

Thanks! I don't know, with ds's behavior-- we haven't had to adjust to anything before. Monday, he had off of school, I kept him off meds so he'd eat, but he was an utter BEAST the whole day. I was curling up in a ball by evening.
Tuesday thru Friday he was a dream, in school and out! In the mornings, evenings, easy-peasy, for FOUR DAYS :thumb Came home from school and talked our ears off for an hour and a half, but sat right down and did his homework voluntarily. He knows he can have computer time if he does that. BUT, I think he's starting to slack off already...he's a "I'll do the minimum I can get away with" kind of guy :(

Oh, my job. It's with Home Instead Senior Care. I'm going to be a caregiver for elders in their homes. Hopefully ONE, that is my elder and I am their caregiver. I hope I get an old Massachusetts granny-woman; how cool would that be?

Yeah really, revolting! How goes everything?

Thistle, that is too cool about the owls. Have you picked out a name for the baby? Wonder if there's a name that means "Owl"...that would be sweet. I think, anyway.

Thanks everyone! My husband went back to the doctor on Tuesday, and his arm had swollen so badly his doctor put him on bed rest for a week. His boss asked him to come to work on Monday but with no promise that he'd actually have any work for him to do. I try to stay hopeful.

Maia - That's awesome about your health insurance and your son's meds. Keep us updated on your job! I'm curious what kind of elder you will help.

Thistle - So exciting. Keep us updated! And in case you had an interest in owl baby names: http://bewitchingnames.blogspot.com/2013/01/spirit-animal-round-up-owl.html

Man, revolting, at least though they are keeping him in the loop so far. Poor DH!

I can't wait to find out who I get, too.

I lurve owls. I have met girls named Athena before. I haven't seen much in that list that would do for boy names, IMO. Thistle, do you know the sex of your baby yet?

Hey, everyone. I finally have a chance to get in here. I've been sick for a week.

Ok, let's summarize. I was laid off. Babysitter dropped us. Baby ran off and got picked up by the cops. I was charged with neglect, but the charges were dropped (officially because witnesses didn't show; unofficially cuz it was a stupid charge due to unusual circumstances. Bug needs surgery again. Oh wait, DH and I aren't legally married, and I'm unemployed (see above) so no insurance. Trying to get on Medicaid. BIL moved in, got a job, does chores, still pending the first paycheck (50% is ours for room, board, car expenses, etc.). Parents got us tickets to Lynyrd Skynyrd at the state fair. Woot! I learned to make cheese (ricotta & mozzarella, so far) and took over running the town's farmer's market. It is the most successful I've ever seen it and several people agree. I'm writing a Pagan Cookbook, freelancing and looking forward to working on my non-fiction Pagan book, The Goddess of Ick. People seem to like the intro draft that I wrote out and published in my blog (just today, in fact). Still doing the radio show. Attending Sumbel and Blot events in Lincoln. Did I miss something?

Dang, that sounds yummy. Too carby for me, but I'm roasting a chicken tonight too! I haven't had FOOD in a month-- been dieting-- so today is Day 1 of eating again and I am stoked, lemme tellya. I had bacon already (3pc) and a cup of Bulletproof Coffee (my version) and I'm still hungry. Yikes.

Yikes, Wolfcat, you have a lot going on! It sounds like the ick is balanced by the good, though. Hopefully. Yum on the cheese! Is it better than bought cheese? I would think so! Do you have a cow? Or access to one? How did you do it?

Goddess of Ick-- love it :lol

We're settling in nicely to our new home. It's been almost 3 months already! DS is adjusting to his new school, even with all the homework. He's actually buckling down and DOING it, which is a huge change for him-- usually he tries to get away with as little as possible. He still does, but at least he is sitting down doing it without me making him and causing a huge stink.

feeling exceptionally productive today. :) i have chicken stock on the stove, made chicken salad from left over chicken from the one i roasted on monday, chocolate chip oatmeal bars are made, pork loin roast in the crockpot (i am so happy i found one on sale a few weeks ago), did the dishes, swept the kitchen floor, started a load of wash. so nice to have some stuff done.

i MIGHT get around to cleaning the bathrooms today, and turning the heel on a sock i am knitting, oh and finish a book. LOL OR i might take a nap.
