Help with 2-1 nap
First, waking up at night is still entirely age appropriate.
Second, going back and forth between 2 naps and one is also entirely normal, and as long as it works, there is no problem waiting for a children to naturally start taking a nap later. If I can remember that far back, I seem to think that both girls were in this stage for close to a month, but it was not ideal for us, so I started to try dropping the second nap.
The transition between one and two naps can be rocky sometimes. You don't say what time her naps and bedtimes are, but what I did with my girls was push off the first nap by small bits until it was close to 11:00. There was a difficult stretch where we started bedtime insanely early--at 5:30, asleep by 6:30 at the latest! Yes, both were cranky for about 2 weeks once we stopped the second nap, and I continued to push the first nap forward slightly until it was closer to noon. They were very, very tired at bedtime. But they adjusted very well after this period, and the crankiness that came with this transition time completely resolved itself for us.
BTW, they didn't stop waking up during the night until after their first molars came in. My oldest was long past nursing but would still wake up, my youngest nursed about once a night until close to when she stopped nursing. She also stopped waking up once her molars grew in.
thanks for the info about your experience with 2-1 naps. You asked what time she goes down for a nap it is usually around 11;30 today she slept for 1.5hr which is very rare for her.hopefully this is the beginning of a new phase ,having longer naps.Today was her second day with one nap and she did get a little cranky around the time she would have her 2nd nap(3;00pm).Also good to know that shes not the only one waking up still at her age lots of my friends say that she should be sleeping all night....once again thanks and have a good one
