Oh OK. Thank you notes. But we were in the NICU for 2 weeks so we had plenty of time to have my mom bring us stuff back and forth and then after I was discharged had another 10 days of staying 16+ hrs/day.  I wrote a thank you note to my labor/delivery nurse and also my main post partum nurse because they were great and I know that means a lot to them.

Thank you. They're doing well, just had preemie issues. Now have preemie issues nursing but they're healthy. :)

I wish I had packed some sort of entertainment. I ended up transferring from a birth center (short stay) to a hospital (a few days), so I got pretty bored without anything to do. I would recommend a book, some magazines, etc.

I brought too much. I wish I'd packed lighter. It was annoying to be so crowded in that tiny space.

I only wished I had baby nail scissors and our own swaddle blankets.

I second mamapigeon's advice about entertainment. Our baby slept a lot and we got bored. I had a very straight forward, quick, natursl birth so I wasn't in much pain. Hospitals are really boring when your not sick. We had tv, laptop, iPhones, books and knitting. I'm not sure what else I could have brought!

I wished I had brought snacks (something hearty) for when meals were coming.  The hospital food was pretty gross, so I wish that I had something wholesome to counteract that (also just something snacky for when people brought me food from the real world).  We were only there for a day, but I would have enjoyed good food.

I also over packed, only spent one night in hospital so didn't need as much as I had with me.  Mostly what got used was ipod/speakers (during labor), ipad (entertainment) and food.

I overpacked too, since we only stated one night this time instead of two. The things I really appreciated that we brought were the baby nail clippers, trail mix, and oatmeal cookies for snacking. I'd forgotten that when you order food in the hospital, it can take up to 45 minutes to get to you. So those snacks came in handy when I was famished!!

My husband would have loved snacks for while we waited for meals. I second this.

I had hubby bring from home - baby nail clippers.  I also wished for my kindle, but luckily he had stuck his in the bag when we left, so I just used his...  Otherwise, I was happy with everything I brought.

I overpacked, too. I brought clothes and stuff for my husband, but he was back and forth to our house several times. We only live about 10 min from hospy. Plus he could bring me whatever I wanted, which was nothing. I was sending stuff home with him.

My main things I used were iPhone/charger (served as entertainment, connection to friends, and camera), my own pajamas and toiletries for freshening up and feeling relaxed, and clothes for me and baby to wear home. Oh and our baby book; I like to work on it while baby sleeps and the memories are fresh.

One thing I wish I had thought of (not an issue if you live in a bigger city probably?) is that I labored through dinner hour, so missed hospital food service, and then restaurants in my small town were closed by the time I got to my maternity unit room, so food options were limited and I was starving. I got something via my MIL, but it wasn't very satisfying. If I had thought of it, I would have had my mom order me a big sandwich tray while I was in labor and bring it to me later.

Easy labor vibes to you, mexiflower!
