week 4-12 I continued my normal vinyasa yoga classes 3-4 times a week when I had the energy, and walked at least 2 miles a day- I was VERY tired.. which is normal! gotta listen to your body
weeks 13-26 I had more energy, and between weeks 21-25 I was taking 3-4 heated baptiste power yoga classes//week and felt amazing. I did at least 30 minutes of cardio almost every day
weeks 27- present (33) I have been doing yoga at home when I feel like it, and dialing it way down because I just can't do things I used to to anymore. I go to the gym monday-friday and do an hour non-negotiable of cardio- whether that's walking at 2mph on the treadmill or doing intervals on the elliptical, or walking on the treadmill at 3.0 on a 10 incline-- I get an hour in. doesn't matter what i'm doing, i just force myself to move for an hour. On days I don't have the energy I still go- and just let myself walk really slowly on the treadmill at first, and read chick magazines- usually I get an energy kick 10 minutes in and then I get into it and do intervals and sweat a little. no running though, and the fastest I feel like going is maybe 3.2 mph, any faster feels too jostling for the baby. I also have started doing weight training since I'm not doing power yoga- to keep my muscle tone in my arms and legs. I do simple free weight exercises for my upper body and lots of squats for my lower body. Being pregnant definitely makes it harder to keep muscle tone, I think baby takes all the protein I eat!
for the next 4-6 weeks, I plan on taking prenatal yoga classes (which i have to pay for, otherwise i'd be doing it from the beginning... I get comp'd classes at the studio I taught at, but we dont offer prenatal) and continuing my monday-friday hour long cardio sessions. on the weekends my husband is home so we like to exercise outside together- hikes or long walks. Sundays I usually take it really easy, let that day be my "cheat day", and rest a lot.
I'm 33 weeks and have gained 18-21 pounds depending on the day and am all belly/boobs.... so what I'm doing is working. With 4-6 weeks left to go I think i will definitely stay under the 25 pound weight gain limit, and will have a really easy time letting it all go after baby is born because I kept a lot of my muscle mass, which burns calories in addition to breastfeeding. i can't imagine not staying active during pregnancy- the days I don't exercise I feel 3 times worse than the days I do, so I really force myself to go now.
