Looking for a Bay Area midwife!

I'm rather new to the Bay Area (about six months), and I'm having trouble finding a midwife. I've met with several, but I've found them all rather difficult to work with. Some won't meet with me because I can't meet during the work day (I work M-F, 8 to 4), others are frustrated that I can't make a snap decision on whether to go with them or not (I'm only 8 weeks along, for goodness' sake), and still others won't work with me because I'll be moving in the middle of my pregnancy and cannot yet 100% confirm whether I'll be staying in the Oakland/Berkeley area or going across the bay to SF. (Oh, yes, and this is only the ones who have responded to calls/emails - out of all the midwives I've contacted, only about a third have bothered to respond).

It's really frustrating to be new to the area and to feel so roundly rejected during what should be a really exciting time. Any recommendations or help would be greatly appreciated!

You probably wouldn't want to travel this far, and you may be looking for a home birth rather than hospital birth, but the midwives at Bay Area Maternity in Cupertino are great. They deliver at El Camino Hospital in Los Gatos which is a small hospital that is very friendly towards the midwives and lets them do their thing. I have not yet delivered with them, but so far their care has been great and very supportive (I am 30 weeks along). Wishing you the best! I know how hard it is to be in a new place as I just moved here two years ago,

I'm guessing that all worked out since this post is old. But if anyone else is looking I know some great resources here and can share them if interested. Sorry I'm just seeing this and find it crazy that no one replied to this!

I'm interested! I'm looking for a homebirth midwife, and would be super helpful if they'll work with insurance companies. I live in the East Bay, EL Sobrante, and have super fast deliveries. (My last was under 2 hours)

Thank you for any information you might have!
