I am only interested in beads.  How is it going to work though?

@granolamommie , the first post has all the directions.  essentially you buy x-number of the same bead, mail it to me in a bubble envelope, and I use the same envelope with paypal postage to return it to you only with x-number of different beads inside.  I think you are already on the spreadsheet.

A couple mamas were interested in a gift exchange, if you want to participate in that, just send the gift as well as your beads in the same emvelope.  I'll swap the gifts around and send them to the mamas who participated.

PLEASE READ THE UPDATE and if you want to be in the gift exchange, it'd be helpful to note that on the spreadsheet.  You can simply send a gift as well. thanks mamas!

when do we do send the beads?

anytime after the first of the year, when I will post totals and my address :) preferably before the 15th of January so that I have plenty of time to get everyone's things and sort them.

I've taken myself off the bead exchange - sorry ladies, but I feel like I am not going to get my act together and remember to mail stuff, and I don't think there are any stores in my town that sell beads anymore.  I hope everyone enjoys their beads!

fayebond- Thanks so much for managing this project!

I have a question about the size of the hole in the bead. Did we set a size?

Mamacayenne- that is a good point

the planned size is 3mm or about the width of a #2 pencil lead.  If a sharpened pencil can get in there, a ribbon probably can as well. @granolamommie @MamaCayenne.  I'm hoping everyone can find beads that big around, but no bead will be rejected.  I plan to restate the main to-dos when we have a final headcount, and I'll try to tag everyone in the post.

I'm also hoping someone else finds some wooden or silicone beads so I can make a teething necklace with mine after the birth.  I plan to buy my beads from the hardware store, if I can 'round to going there, in the curtains department they have lots of different size wood ones.

We'll miss you @manysplinters but I totally understand. Its a lot ot just be pregnant most days around here. :)  thanks for the heads up!

Ooh I'm in! Added myself to the doc. I like the idea of big teethable beads, will look for those!

Okay, so is this going to be for birthing beads or teething beads?  Seems like teething beads should be a different list?

Its for whatever kind of bead you want to buy mamas @mamacayenne, @heldt123. I just mentioned what I am doing as an idea. There are lots of kinds you could pick from, glass, pendants, metal, wood, charms, plastic, crocheted, anything you like. With over 20 mamas its going to be fun to see what everyone picks.

Okay, I took my ID off the list then.  Thanks, though!

I'm still in. Thanks for the explanation.

Very excited about this! Added myself to the doc :). Thanks for organizing, @fayebond

I am interested in joining, but I don't really understand the concept I think ... what are the beads for? Would I make a necklace out of it? And why would it be a birth bead than?

@Triniity , the beads are for to remember the baby's birth by, because you collectedthem while waiting for baby to be born.  At least, I think this is the idea.  I made a necklace out of mine (last baby, different DDC) to wear while pregnant, and then took off the three wooden beads to make a teething necklace and used that while nursing my new baby girl.  Feel free to add yourself to the doc or if you decide you do want in let me know in a comment and I can add you. :)

They're supposed to be a focus thing during labor - a representation of the energy people are sending.
