I did HypnoBabies with my 1st child (born Dec 2011). I blogged about it here (http://mycheapversionoftherapy.com/pregnancy/hypnobabies/) if you want to read more in depth about it. My LONG birth story is here (http://mycheapversionoftherapy.com/pregnancy/stellas-birth-story/).
I CANNOT RECOMMEND IT ENOUGH.
Seriously - I have probably 10 friends who have used the program as well, and every one of us loved it for different reasons. For me, I got as much benefit in the months leading up to my birthing time as I actually did during my birthing time (and FWIW, i was a 10, fully effaced & ready to push when I got to the hospital last time - my midwife was blown away!).
I definitely did NOT do an hour a day. I listened to a track probably 4-5 nights a week (30 min track). I tried to listen to each track once during the day when hearing it for the first time, but usually I fell asleep to the track every other time I listened to it (according to HB literature you're still getting the subconscious benefits, and I'd have to say I believe them after my experience).
I'm 25w pregnant with #2 and about to start the program again. I did the homestudy course last time and then a 1 day immersion class with my hubby (taught by a local doula + HB instructor) just to help get him on my page. He read the Birth Partner's guide and that's it. Honestly, I retreated into my self-hypnosis during pressure waves (HB lingo for ctxs) and he knew to not bug me in the middle of a ctx, so I was happy.
Feel free to contact me for more info if you want - but seriously, it's an awesome program. I was pregnant after a long infertility journey last time, and this program really helped me to relax & enjoy the pregnancy & look forward to my birthing time!
