Everything looked good except for my fluid levels, they were low. The doctor told me to come in the next day to be induced.
He wouldn't give me any ripening or softening agents prior to because I was a VBAC and it took my rupture risk from 5% with just Pitocin to 15% with both of those.
That night was do or die night. I really wanted to go into labor in my own. As a last resort stitch effort, I drank 2tbsp of Castor Oil around 6p. The rest of the night was uneventful. Having to be at the hospital at 530a, I went to bed around 11p.
Around 1am, I woke up to a very painful contraction. I got on all fours and rocked through it. This happened three more times before I got out of bed. Once I got out of bed, I had my "Castor Oil Cleanse". LOL The contractions didn't stop though. I started timing them and they were 4-5 minutes apart, about 45 seconds long.
Around 4am, they were 2-3 minutes apart and 45 seconds long. I wasn't able to talk through them anymore. DH and I decided to go ahead and go to the hospital since I was supposed to be there at 530a anyways.
We get to the hospital, she checks me, tells me I'm 3cm and 80% (I was 1cm and 50% the day prior) and that my doctor decided to let me labor and to hold off on the Pitocin. Yay! The nurse brought me a birthing ball.
Around 7am, I agreed to IV Stadol to help with the pain. My contractions immediately stalled to every 10 minutes.
9am, the doctor broke my water to try to help bring them back. No success.
10am, we started Pitocin.
12pm, I agreed to an Epidural. I'm 5cm and 100%.
6pm, still 5cm and 100%, even with me constantly changing positions, trying all fours, etc. The doctor is concerned with her heart rate. It's going from really low to really high. He puts me on an O2 mask. Heart rate calms down.
8pm, still 5cm and 100%. Her heart rate drops for more time than the doctor is okay with. He orders a csection.
8:47pm, my daughter makes her arrival. 7.5lbs, 19.5" long, 9/9 on her Apgar, sunny side up, and the cord around her neck once. She came out screaming!
Everything else was uneventful. I'm really bummed I was a failed VBAC, but happy to finally have my complete family, so I'm not dwelling on it too much.
Meeting big brother for the first time.
