Unitarian Universalist Thread or Group?
Hello, sometimes attend our local UU; definitely sporadically. We recently got a new minister, and I have enjoyed the services that I have attended. I have a hard time convincing the kids to come with me. They usually want to stay home with their dad, and then I have a hard time leaving. We are making the oldest participate in OWL this year. I really like the program idea, and ds is at that right age (12).
So, ds went to 1st OWL meeting on Sat night and had lots of fun. They had an overnight with about 24 kids, many of which he was acquainted from RE. Because it was a Sat- Sun., he stayed at the UU for Re and got involved in a project that he wants to go back and work on next week. yay! DD went because she wanted to see her brother. I am hoping she enjoyed going enough that she would consider going back next week, too.
Yes! I came over here looking specifically for the UU thread/forum I remembered from a few years ago ... we attend a small UU society and I teach RE for the 3-6 year old set. Looking to chat with other UU families about incorporating ritual and diverse religious streams into our home life. I come from a Catholic background, so I love ritual! ;) I also lean pagan. My husband is a secular humanist atheist.
We started attending our local UU church, off and on, last spring. Since the fall session started, we've been going every week. We even went on a church family camping trip. Which was HUGE for me since I'm not good in social situations. I still have trouble saying the word "church" but it's been a really good thing so far. Our church has an interim minister, who is terrific, and I hope the permanent one will be, as well.
My first grader will take the OWL class in the spring.
OWL is awesome. I'm glad your child likes it. I taught jr. High Owl 2 years ago. Its such an amazing program.
Spiritually i lean pagan as well.
