Dd made that when she was 3, she's 14 now.

I was here a lot with the young kids but left during the UAV wars... Funny, it almost seems there's a reason I went to check in today and see this thread. I remember many of you so very fondly!
It feels a bit like visiting your hometown after years away, all the townspeople including your gradeschool BFFs... joy.gif

Like any hometown, I was formed here as a mother. We still TCS to some extent.

Piglet, the thread was called Call me morbid, call me pale

i have to admit its so nice to see all these familiar faces as well as familiar children.

but now it makes me miss those who no longer come here. makes me wonder how they are doing, what happened to them. some left on the brink of hardships in their lives, and i hope life has improved for them.

Awww, I didn't know your daughter made that, Simonee.

Not an OLDIE oldie, but a kinda oldie.

I joined in 2004. I used to post a lot!

Then I left around the time the board format changed. The new layout was confusing to me, plus I was just on the computer way too much.

I pop in now and then to read a bit. I rarely post these days.

My boys are 25 and 19 now.

My 19 year may be moving out late spring and I told him I'd send him a link to "my old mothering board" cuz they have lots of good info about buying healthy foods on a budget.

It was so good to see so many familiar names on this thread! :)

Hello, All!  I read today what JK Rowling said about Ron and Hermione and I was reminded of the epic Harry Potter threads.  Maybe 2005?  That was fun.

Still here but I pop in every few months. I joined in 03??

I was a SAHMom at the time with a baby. My baby is now almost 12 and home sick today from school so I stayed home this morning with her. I now work Full time outside the home since my dd2 went to school fulltime and she will turn  8 next week. My DH is 6 months off a year long fellowship which resulted in a huge paycut. I wanted to go back to work so this was a good excuse. Now he is finished and pursuing grad school and working 30 hours a week. I carry the FT job and benefits. I forgot how much $$ I used to make and how much I enjoy it after staying home so many years.

When I was first here, I could just learn all these great things. Then DD2 came along (very early!!) and I was one of the mamas to get the NICU board up and running. Now my preemie is in 2nd grade!! I loved talking to all of you and some are FB friends of mine so I still see you there from time to time.

Funny thinking of all those AP conversations and in some ways I am still very AP and we still practice our frugal ways and cooking from scratch etc. Our family's adventure of AP parents has now grown into us being very tightknit and even though as the kids grow taller and older, I see what our baby/tot parenting choices did to make our daughters wonderful young women.

I also see how they pass this gentle way of parenting to kids younger such as their cousins and our neighbor who is very AP. They love having us "older parents" next door who agree with all their parenting ways! They also love all the natural toys etc we have passed on!

Great to see many names here!

Drive by wave. I've been around since 1999ish, but rarely stop in anymore.

I do miss the community that used to exist. I've been through a ton of changes in the past few years. I divorced, remarried, and now I'm TTC again, while parenting teens and tweens. When I first started thinking about TTC about a year ago, MDC was my first stop. I realized that traffic had slowed down, but wow! I've defected to another, formerly reviled community. I do think that AP has become mainstream, which has made it easier to participate in mainstream parenting forums without wanting to pull my hair out.

I remember you from the co-ops! I agree, I miss that old community but yes, I guess with AP and natural living going mainstream its easier to lurk, read blogs etc.

Actually, maybe it was mentioned up-thread and I missed it. I think I'll post it by itself.
