Trying To Be Perfect While Pregnant
I like that blog but I can't read it too often, I start getting angry and frustrated at the posts (not the post itself, but the ridiculousness that people sometimes do in the name of protecting our kids).
And they are definitely right about having the "perfect pregnancy". I sometimes think I'm lucky I'm the eldest of almost 40 cousins (I love telling that here, the looks I get!) so I have seen a LOT of babies and pregnancies. I think otherwise I would've freaked out a lot more the first go-around :)
I was a bit more helicopter-y when I first started out, but I've always had a basic goal of teaching my kids independence and responsibility. Luckily that's how my husband was raised, so we're on the same page. In fact, he was always the one telling me it was ok for the kids to go *up* the slide, LOL.
I really enjoyed this blog for quite a while, but I just recently unsubscribed to her blog for the same reason as LilyKay -- it was too frustrating to read some of the stories. I will have to remember to visit from time-to-time. It is a good reminder for me to question some of the areas where I might be needlessly limiting independence.
I do wish I could allow my DS a little independence in our back yard (time alone) but we do not have a fence...and we have stray dogs suddenly appear from time to time, rarely, but just enough to make me worry.
