I have to work this weekend, 7PM to 730AM, Saturday and Sunday night. Blah. I love my job but it's hard. I don't mind working weeknights because I can sleep while the kids are in school. But weekends- I'm missing out on everything. The thing I love about it is night shift differential, and I am there during the day for school breaks and sick days. I may be sleeping but at least I'm there in the house in case they need me. They are old enough to take care of themselves (lunch, etc) with me sleeping.
Any other night shift working moms here? Want to vent? Or encourage? :-)
I don't like the holiday schedule that we are required to work at the hospital either. We have to work mandatory holidays either the night before or the night of Thanksgiving and Christmas. So either I'm working the night before and then sleeping through half the day of the holiday, or I'm taking a nap to get ready to work the night of the holiday. But again, I do get time and a half for those holidays so it sorta makes up for it. Sorta.
We have a rotating holiday schedule. I have been working there since 2011. I can look forward to 2015 when I don't have to work any of those holidays (the night before or the night off!).
