duh.gif Sigh. My husband's allergies seemed to be acting up and so he had to run and get a prescription that was waiting for him. Unfortunately, it was very expensive. If I had gotten it I probably would have refused it and called the Dr. to ask for a new prescription for something cheaper.

10/13 - duh.gif It's a good thing that my husband's check hit the bank early as I have to take the oldest to get a rapid strep test at urgent care.

This weekend has been very low cost for us.  Doing the grocery shopping on Thursday was a good strategy.  If I go on the weekends, dh always wants to go too and he ups our grocery bill with tasty meat and sauce ingredients and 'hey, let's invite the Smiths over for a BBQ!' kind of stuff.  I have food lunches for the next few days, but will need to pick up some milk soon.  I really need to start buying 2 gallons rather than 1.

10/13: irked.gif orngbiggrin.gif Had the visiting family at our house, and we all bought takeout food for lunch. It's OK though, it was an expected expense, and we have money in the budget for it. On the upside, we were sent home with all the leftover Chinese food from our big family dinner, since no one else was going to be around to eat it. That will be lunch today, and then we're back to normal, healthy eating! Intentionally frugal act: Salvaged some aging apples and made GF muffins. They're so delish that I'll probably make another batch later in the week.

Stopped by the grocery store again.  We had eaten the pantry down to bare bones.   I did a big bulk purchase -- beans, rice, pasta, popcorn, a bit of fruit and some eggs.  I forgot to pick up cake mix for ds's birthday.  I'll have to stop by tomorrow so he can take cupcakes with him to school on Wednesday.

The budget is holding well, though dh gassed up the van. We would have been fine, but he likes a full tank.  So, gas budget is over by $40.  My new, lower food budget is super tight.  We are eating more rice and bean type of meals which is fine and much cheaper.  I have enough on hand to make chicken and potatoes, stir fry, and several rice and bean style dishes.  Except for the cake mix, I have plenty till the weekend.  $582.59 remaining in the grocery budget for the month.

Oct 1 - :irked - DH Spent $30 for a music downloading program... :/

Oct 2- :D - Spent $30 on two apple trees though an amazing program in our city (they will be planted Dec 7th)! And $5 on open Gym.

Oct 3-  :D - Went out to dinner ($45) because my mom is in town, for now I'm going to call that budgeted, because we are doing great on groceries, If we go over our grocery budget at the end of the month well then.. We'll see when we get there. Also paid garbage bill and mortgage, waiting for those to clear.

Oct 4- :D Found great deal on compost and started a winter garden, cooked dinner for my extend family so we didn't need to eat out! 100$ on Groceries

Oct 5 - :irked My mom dragged me out to a bar... I made dinner for everyone, before but still felt like I should buy a drink. $4 for a beer! 0.0 I took it out of our grocery envelope and I'll try to save enough to make up for the $10 I spent total.

Oct 6- :D Ate out again, but it was cheep enough to come out of the food budget. My tummy wasn't happy though... Hoping Wednesday (the day my mom leaves!) is no spend!

Oct 7 - :D

Oct 8 - :D

Oct 9 -:irked Unbudgeted, but very necessary doctor visit. Found out my insurance doesn't cover ND's so now I have $300+ dollars to pay off with them. Payed $100 today....

Oct - 10 :D Even though we are trying not to eat out I'm going to call this pizza splurge budgeted... Found out a friend passed away and really didn't feel like cooking. We are doing really good with our food budget so we had room to spurge on good pizza on a rough night.

Oct 11 - :D  Today is good so far, don't forsee any unbugeted spending!

Oct 12 - :irked Unbudgeted spending had an impromptu event and got fast food...

Oct 13- :D Gas, and used part of our small entertainment budget to go to a second run movie theater. Nice day.

Oct 14- :thumb - WOOT WOOT! No spend!!

10/15 - :loveeyes duh.gif Today was a planned spending day. I am doing really well with the grocery budget. I even had room in the budget to get a few extras. $300 was supposed to go to savings as well. This was going to be our big catch up check. Then I borrowed my husbands car and realized that the front tires were completely bald. So $200 of the money designated for savings went to new tires. I'm calling that unplanned but very necessary spending. At least the back tires were okay, so I only needed two.

I'm totally in! Last month I spent an un-godly amount of money (with horseback riding payments, gymnastics, doctors and I loaned my brother a bit of money because he's expecting a baby/had a car accident that cost them their only car..) We had to take out of savings, so I'm hoping for a simple October of less-spending!

Anyway I'm mum to two little babes, we are unschoolers (sort of), we live on a little farm but our garden didn't feed us more than the season (very little leftover). My goal is to stay out of stores, because if I go in I almost always walk away with things we don't need...so besides homeschool adventures and playdates and a few special outings (pumpkin picking, bake sale) I'm going to not shop!

October 7 - Did okay today. Only bought my inhaler and gas (both I needed) Did go into the bookstore and pick up two Halloween sticker books because it was rainy and I knew they would love them. Used a coupon I had + my Barnes and Noble card which made it under $10.

October 8 - NO SPENDING! Woo hoo.

October 9th - bought breakfast out for kids + bought Halloween sticker books (little out of budget)

October 10th - bought bagel + coffee (3$, don't count that)

October 11th - the day is young! I plan on going to the diner for breakfast but no other spending (diner is in budget)

UPDATE: On the 11th we had to pay doctors bill which was expensive!

October 12th - Bad day : ( I posted again on this board earlier I had a set amount of money for Waldorf fair, but I splurged and bought a root children needle felted piece of art for the playroom, and on the way home we stopped at the food coop and I bought snacks + dinner for kiddos because it was so late! Over $100 :/ Going to make up for it, by keeping the week simple at home

October 13 - Went to Comic Con, budget for food and small treat for each child and kept to my budget

October 14 - No spending! Woop!

October 15 - bought some pretty stickers for my crafting kit I didn't need + a vintage Halloween sign. Spent under $20 but didn't NEED them.
