I'm wondering whether to have my 10 year old tested for learning disabilities. She had some OT for sensory/coordination issues at age 5/6, but we never had a formal diagnosis of anything.
She's having more and more trouble with things that her 4 years younger sister can mostly do. (Allowing for lack of knowledge.) For example, learning a math video game: the younger one immediately understands the interface, but can't multiply in her head so asks for computation help. The older can't figure out what to do even after I prompt her though a couple levels and cries and gives up.
We're homeschooling, and I like to just follow their lead, but I worry that she needs extra help (like she did learning to form letters and learning to read) in some form that I can't figure out.
How do I know if there is a problem or if she's just more emotional at this age and my expectations are wrong?
