Good afternoon mamas! I'm a newbie (to a lot of things these days!) to the site. I'm up in Maine with my husband, our 2 children and awaiting our 3rd in March :-) I've been going through a lot of reflection and reevaluation of our lifestyle and habits the past year or so. We're trying (very slowly) to be more aware of what we're using and eating. We are also entering year #2 of homeschooling which has brought all kind of new experiences and people into our lives that have helped broaden our horizons! I'm really loving it, at the same time also feeling kind of "insufficient" because we don't eat all organic (we're almost a family of 5 one 1 income and organic is expensive at the rate my kids eat fresh fruit!!), I truly can't stand gardening (I really try...) and I'm not super outdoorsy (the humidity and the bugs will send me running for an AC any day!). We've made improvements, some without even meaning to, like switch to whole grains, eliminating most chemicals from our household cleaning (still use Dawn dish soap and laundry detergent, every thing else is vinegar, baking soda, lemon juice or some combination) and trying to improve our diets in general. The diet part has been crucial this pregnancy as I had morning sickness for the first time and 1/2 way through I still get sick if it eat something too sugary (wah!!!! No cake, no doughnuts, no syrup on pancakes - this bites!). Looking forward to being part of a supportive community to help our family grow and to provide support to those who are just starting their journey (though I can't imagine there are many people behind where I am! lol).
Hi! Newbie from Maine :-)
Hi and Welcome to Mothering!!
It is a long journey to change old habits, and most of us are at some point along the way. I don't think any of us have gotten to the end. :) Check out our Nutrition and Good Eating forum (ladies there have some great info!), and our Mindful Home section. Our Homeschooling forum is pretty great too!
