Throwing our own Baby Celebration - craft ideas- need suggestions Please!

So, this is our 2nd baby and in the deep south people are not much for throwing baby showers, etc for anything other than your first child.  This makes me so sad!  Not that we really need/want gifts we just want this child to be just as celebrated as our first. My husband suggested we throw our own party for this baby- we will ask for no gifts-just for guests to come and have a good time. However, we would like to have all the guests collaborate on some sort of craft project for the baby.  Any ideas what this craft could be? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I am interested in this idea. I had a baby shower for number 1 and my friends did a blessingway for number 2 (homebirth). It might be nice to throw my own party for number 3! I would need ideas, tho. . .

Anyone attend a baby celebration/baby shower that had a craft activity recently?

My friend is planning my shower and she painted a tree trunk with branches onto paper. Then she cut out leaves to match our bedding set. Guests will write a word or short phrase representing a hope or dream they have for the baby then she's going to put them onto the tree and frame it.

You could give each guest a square of fabric to decorate, to later be made into a quilt for the baby. You could have an assortment of fabric pens, buttons, embroidery thread, patterned fabric, etc. and that way people could decorate according to their own skill/craftiness level. You could even send a square to family members and friends who can't be with you at the party, to make on their own time and send to you.

Another idea could be to do something similar, but as a scrapbook, where each person could have a page to write a note or wish for the baby and your family.

Or they could decorate baby onesies!
