I tend to have a lot of cravings during my first trimester. Anyone else having some interesting cravings or aversions?
So far I've craved:
This is somewhat embarrassing, but the other day I ate nearly half a package of fig newtons. They seemed to be the only thing that helped with the nausea. Also been craving refried beans and breakfast sausage (though not together, lol). I don't normally eat eggs, but right now I can't even cook them for my son. Thankfully my husband is on vacation so he can make breakfast
My first pregnancy I wanted cheeseburgers like crazy at the beginning.
This time - I want fruits and veggies. Salads, juiced veggies, anything like that. Strange, but it's nice to have healthier cravings this time around.
Oh! And yogurt. I don't normally care for yogurt, this time around I want it every day.
I have been craving chocolate a little on/off and have had a slight aversion to meat... but I finally had some meatballs yesterday..mmmm. Eating has been a real challenge once my nausea started I was down to just eating plain yogurt with honey/berries, ,then I added eggs, and finally adding more foods now that the tea has helped a great deal! I am planning to eat some chicken today.
I also second the folate instead of folic acid. Here are my vitamins.
Here is the tea
Maybe that's it. Usually I try to figure out what my cravings might mean so I can make sure I'm getting nutrients. Maybe comfort is all I need. Or maybe it's a protein and calcium thing. I went to whole foods and got the organic all natural version, so at least I can satisfy my craving without eating something quite so toxic. I will be glad when my stomach settles and I can go back to cooking from scratch and eating right.
i find i crave heavy foods (hasbrowns, burgers etc) and then that resolves with fish oils
if i crave fruit it tends to be when i'm dehydrated.
i'm eating lots of granola and veggie chips as mushy foods seem gross to me.
smoothies, hummus, granola with soy milk seem to be my go-to foods lately.
This happened to me too until I got my nausea under control... I've been slowly adding things back into my diet. I also can only eat small amounts of food at a time.
I'm so sick of feeling sick! I'm hoping this is the peak of my nausea because man is it bad. I took Reglan with my other two because I became dehydrated and lost weight, and I'm trying sooo hard not to have to take something like that again (midwife said they don't even prescribe that anymore!). I'm taking Unisom and B6 which helps me sleep at night but still being woken up with severe nausea.
I'm eating such junky food now, whatever I think will stay down! This has meant mostly processed crap, like frozen spring rolls, gluten free mac and cheese, like the gal above I only buy the natural stuff, but still it's not good.
My list of foods I can eat is down to about 5 right now! I hate this part so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I feel you 100%! This is really a drag!
I tried to eat bacon again yesterday, it was literally like trying to eat DIRT. I ate half of my ground beef patty. I also can't eat mashed potatoes apparently...something I was wanting last week. I just cant keep up with my body anymore! Eating is the biggest pain in the ass right now.
