So, this is our 2nd baby and in the deep south people are not much for throwing baby showers, etc for anything other than your first child. This makes me so sad! Not that we really need/want gifts we just want this child to be just as celebrated as our first. My husband suggested we throw our own party for this baby- we will ask for no gifts-just for guests to come and celebrate this new baby. However, we would like to have all the guests collaborate on some sort of craft project for the baby. Any ideas what this craft could be? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Throwing our own Baby Celebration- Need Group Craft ideas Please!
We've done decorated onesies for a few people's showers and it's always been fun. People can embroider or sew felt scraps or animal shapes onto onesies or just use fabric markers. We had people write wonderful little words of wisdom on the onesies or just funny pics and "I'm with stupid" kind of stuff. My daughter had a whole drawer of personalized onesies to start her life with. It was very sweet.
Another option would be to have quilt pieces that people could sign in permanent marker as a reminder of how much the new baby is loved and celebrated. You could sew it together later or have everyone sew a piece to another so you have strips that you can then finish later.
We just used a variation of "wishes for baby" cards at DD's first birthday. The responses were lovely to read through, and I plan to put them into a scrapbook for keepsakes. Here's the link to the (free) printable ones I used: http://laurenmakes.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/freebie-wish-cards/.
