Where to start?

Thread Starter
I'm about 8 weeks along right now. I've done all the reading/etc in a previous pregnancy, but didn't go through due to my partner's apprehension.. I'm considering going th e UC route this time. Ideas?

Where do I start? I know I will need to get the homeopathic and stuff, is there a good list for that? I figured you ladies would be the best to help me out here. smile.gif

TIA!

Sometimes I find get a little scared of the "what if" but I just push those thoughts out of my mind and try to stay positive.

Emergency Childbirth by Gregory White is a great, very straightforward starting point :) I also agree, that reading old posts from mamas who have BTDT is nice. Honestly, when I UC'ed in December, I just thought of my prior birth experiences in as much detail as I could, and I envisioned handling the issues that arose by myself; once I was able to realize that the parts of my previous births that I disliked the most centered around other people who were there (midwife or otherwise) and that the "issues" were things that could be easily handled by myself or my partner, it became calming to envision birthing our sweet babe alone. Hope that helps mama and hope that you have the birth of your dreams!

We read Emergency Childbirth and watched neonatal resuscitation videos on Youtube.  I had only had a few days to prepare (a day or 2 a few weeks before when we considered UCing before switching midwives, and then the night before when we realized we were going to have to do it instead of getting a c-section).  It sounds silly, but I'd been watching "I didn't know I was Pregnant" and that eased my fears, because I figured if all these women could not even know they were pregnant and have their babies on the toilet, then I could do it too!  We had a birthtub and a homebirth kit too.

I read EVERYTHING I could get my hands on! Birth stories were my best friend. It turns out, I didn't need any of it. I labored sand birthed without a single thought to what I had read. Lol. I did use things I has read to make lists and guides for my husband to refer to.
