Bloating Remedies

Anyone have any ideas for dealing with bloating?  I'm drinking a ton of water because I'm always thirsty, and I think I'm just storing it all.  I'm only 6 weeks and I can't get my wedding ring on comfortably!

I told DH this morning, it's like really bad PMS bloating, except this time it's not going away... (knock on wood)

I am interested to hear if anyone has any ideas as well.  My issue is my belly.  I normally like wearing my clothes a touch snug and though my clothes still fit, I can't stand the feel of anything even remotely tight across my belly.  NONE of my clothes are comfortable.  I really don't want to invest in any clothing for a few more weeks yet but my lack of choices is starting to drive me crazy LOL>

Oh, all of my pants feel too tight, too! I want to live in pajama bottoms right now.

No solutions, but I feel your pain. :-)

I generally lie on my belly and fart it out if possible. My theory is the evening bloat belly just helps stretch everything out nice and gradually.

beets are good for liver and kidneys, so they help with bowels and water retention.

probiotics will help the intestines, esp if you are constipated. prunes help too!

nettle tea is full of minerals that support the baby's growth and also acts as a kidney tonic to flush water. it is often used at the end of pregnancy for swelling.

digestive enzymes will help if your food isn't digesting well after you eat and the bloating is mostly after meals.

i'm a naturopathic doctor and all of those are safe in pregnancy.

i'm 8 weeks now and past the bloating and into 24hr belly! my uterus is up above the pubic bone and i am really showing. preg #4.

You're an ND, super cool! Thanks for the ideas, I'll add some digestive enzymes in.

You're only 8 weeks and showing, uh oh! This is #4 for us too and I don't want to tell until 14 weeks, I hope I can hide until then!

Thanks for the suggestions.  It's not really bloating from gassiness or constipation (I'm still ok in those areas), but water retention.  I'm at only 6 weeks and I can just barely get my wedding ring on!

I read online that getting in water might help.  I swim laps semi-regularly, so now I have a great excuse to hit the pool!  I also love beets, so I'll try adding more of those to my diet.

No idea if this helps or not but dried papaya is supposed to be good for digestion.  I generally chew some for morning sickness, and bonus it has vitamin A which is important in pregnancy.

I know what you mean! My ring has been tight lately, so I've taken it off and it's been in the cupboard for almost a week now!

I feel "naked" not wearing it and I would really like to put it back on, but it just feels too uncomfortable right now :(

I've seen other people talking about buying a larger, placeholder wedding ring to wear while they're pregnant.  I might look into that.

I swam this morning and it really helped.  After about 10 minutes in the water I swear my ankles had deflated by about a third!
