Goodbye pregnant princess hair, I shall miss you. I'm losing so much hair I'm considering making a pet with it.
mine started coming out around three months. it was pretty thick before that, so it's not an aesthetic issue, but I have started trying to wrangle it in the shower so it doesn't end up in the drain! after standing in yuck-water a few times, it finally dawned on me that I probably shouldn't just throw clumps of hair on the floor in there.
and far be it from me to tell another woman what to do with her hair, Kalista, but if you've ever wanted to go bald, I say go for it! I hemmed and hawed about it, and a few years ago I finally told my husband to shave it off. I wouldn't recommend the Bic-ed down to the scalp approach, though, because my head felt like sandpaper afterward. I worried that my head would be weird too, but it turns out it was just a head under there. I actually shaved it on Halloween, too, so I was pretty cold through the winter. always wore a hat, that's for sure. but I figured that if I DID have a wacky head, I could wear a hat without drawing too much attention to myself during the winter. all in all, it was a great experiment, and it was actually pretty reassuring. pretty much no one cared that my hair was gone (or if they did, I never noticed), and I felt totally comfortable after a few weeks. just more evidence that we worry far more about our own appearances than anyone else does.
12 weeks pp today, and ready for some hair loss! I thought it was supposed to happen earlier. Glad to know there's still a chance I'll lose some of this craziness. I have really thick, curly hair to begin with, so this mop on my head is just ridiculous. I also have short hair, so I have not been able to get it to lie down for almost a year. I guess I'll probably miss it for its warmth. Maybe instead of pets we can all knit or felt hats out of our hair?
