Is anyone drinking this? If so do you have a brand or source you prefer? I'm in the market for some. I looked on Etsy but there weren't enough feedback samples to really pick one there.
Red Raspberry Leaf Tea?
I use traditional medicinals brand, it often goes on sale for 3.50 per box at fred meyer and then ther e are always $1 off coupons online. I just stock up before the third trimester and start chugging once I am past 36 weeks. It gives me cramps literally every time, so I've never succeeded at the whole anti-nausea-thing. Just a bring on labor thing. Its not too bad for the first cup but like a week into drinking it every day here, I get noticeable cramping in my abdomen, OW. To be honest I mostly drank it on Fridays last time because I was hoping for a weekend birth. I have never price compared on etsy.
I bought my Traditional Medicinals online (Amazon, it was cheaper in bulk since I have Prime Membership).
However, I have found it at several local grocery stores (Meijer, Kroger). I'm sure other chains sell it, but I haven't looked at places like Walmart or Target. My issue in finding it is that it will be in the "Health Food" aisle, or with the vitamins/supplements. It probably won't be with the regular teas.
@mrsdonut , for some mamas it works well during the first trimester for nausea. For others it does cause braxton hicks. But like most natural remedies, everyone's body reacts differently, and its perfectly safe to try. I think its because I drink like 8 cups of tea a day, so when I replace my green tea with raspberry leaf, my uterus goes, oh, cool, time to contract! I like it other than that I have to wait until the third trimester to use it. I had lots of strong braxton hicks that last month. My mom had no reaction to it except to throw up some more (which she did the whole time with me, boo). My sister can drink it with no effect whatsoever, but she hates the taste. You just dont know until you try. But its highly unlikely to send you into early delivery without alot of warning. For me, I was fine the first day or three. But every time I drank it, I'd have one or two cramps afterwards, and it got worse every day until a week into it I had a definate contraction. I drank it three more days and had a series of contractions after each cup. I thought, to heck with this, my uterus does not need to excercise before my tummy is done with this nausea, not doing this whole mutli-trimester-symptoms at once thing. I quit until the third trimester, and had an entire month of growingly painful braxton hicks with a couple weekends of actual labor before baby finally came. Never dialated past a 4 with any of that until the actual delivery day, so like I said, LOTS of warning before anyhting actually came of it.
our store has it with the organic juices and organic tea mixes. It is hard to find. But I can see why you'd want to put tea that retails for $5 a box away from the $3 a box normal teas.
The herbal tea I have is Red Raspberry Leaf tea with nettle, alfalfa, and peppermint. Here's the link to the product: http://www.bulkherbstore.com/Mamas-Red-Raspberry-Brew_Organic Blessings,
Ooh, now I'm excited! I've been looking for a mama-present for my SIL who is having a baby soon. She's Type I diabetic, so the go-to food stuff is awkward. I realized just now that homegrown red raspberry leaf tea is perfect... and in reading about it, even more perfect than I thought, as apparently it can help lower blood sugar! So now I'm off picking all the leaves off our plant (which is amazingly still producing a wee bit after a bunch of frosts and our first snow, but I think is pretty much done for the year) and dehydrating them.
Hi ladies! I am drinking the tea. I bought mine from mountain rose herbs. http://www.mountainroseherbs.com/bulkherb/r.php#h_ras
I drank it my 2nd pregnancy (this is my third) and I feel it really made a difference. The thing is, this tea is a tonic. Its purpose is to tone your uterus. If you feel Braxton Hicks, that means your uterus could use some toning. I follow the Susan Weed infusion method. Since I'm 2nd trimester, I pour 2 1/4 cups boiling water over 1/2 rounded cup of tea leaves, then let it brew for 4-6 hours or overnight. The amount will increase once I reach 3rd trimester and once again once I'm about 35 weeks.
For my last birth, my water broke at 5:30 pm. My labor was painless till about 1 am, then it got intense. I got to hospital and was checked at 2 am and was 6 cm. At 3 am, I felt the urge to push and when my midwife checked me I was complete. The baby was born on the next contraction. It was crazy fast. I'm hoping for a similar birth this time around.
I order bulk herbs from the Bulk Herb Store or Mountain Rose Herbs and use this recipe:
I loveeee it, but being out of rose hips at the moment, to me, just RRL and nettle mixed work really well!
