Hi Ladies!

Please vote!  If you have some thoughts for all of us to consider, please post them here, too.  If you have site recommendations, you can post links as well.

Thanks!!

I'll go either way. I don't leave this group on mdc anymore anyway, so I will likely stop posting on mdc if we leave. It HAS to be mobile friendly and easy to navigate. Other than that, I don't care. Oh and the lack of privacy isn't holding me back.

I would prefer privacy, not that I'm a fan of airing dirty laundry in public. Obviously I am prolific with the current setup. I won't drop off the face of the earth if we stay, I will also continue to be mum about at least some of my business.

I will stay, but ideally I'd prefer privacy. I don't post anywhere else on MDC these days, so I'd easily move elsewhere.

I pretty much agree to everything mentioned above. I don't post anywhere else on MDC, I prefer privacy, but I wouldn't leave if everyone wanted to stay. That being said, I still voted to move to a more private board. And as I expressed before, if there is cost involved I would be willing to pitch in- from what little I know from a local AP board, most places that host require a yearly fee and it usually runs between $30-70.

I think it seems clear that most people are okay with leaving, and a lot of us want more privacy. I say we get this going! Lol.

I voted to follow the group and I see that is winning. But also of note is that several people very much want privacy and I think because no one has said no, that is the most important thing. I have faith we can find a site that is acceptable. I'm sure we'll have to sacrifice some things though... Like emoticons and possibly the ability to edit posts. MDC has a very clean, pleasing look that other sites might not have too. But in the end it's not about those things but about our connection to each other.

Amber asked about exclusion and I don't foresee that being an issue because no one new has asked to join in a long time (the mystery person was requesting to join our group by mistake). And ultimately I think we want it just our group, not any random new people. I think our group has officially gone beyond a 2011 DDC and has become an exclusive support group for just us.

What about having a private Facebook group? Or would everyone prefer the forum setting?

I agree Jaimee!

Kali, I thought about that too, but I sort of hate Facebook and I think it has a ton of limitations like threads would just be comments on a post. I agree it is easy and free but I'd really like to veto Facebook if that's okay with everyone.

No Facebook, please. I still refuse to get an account... I'm just so anti-FB... sorry.

Kali,  A few people don't use Facebook, so I think it would be better elsewhere.  I'd also be willing to pay for part of a private forum.

Facebook thinks pictures of breastfeeding moms are offensive... That is not the place for us lol.gif

I used to be part of a forum that was made with this. I actually can't even see what that links to from mobile so I hope it's not outrageous. But the forum was almost exactly like MDC. Even had emoticons.

I'm Internet illiterate.

I'm not on Facebook and won't re-join it.  Quitting Facebook was one of the best things I've ever done for my anxiety, seriously.  So... anything but Facebook :)

All I ask is that it's mobile friendly! That is, if you still want me to be a frequent poster, LOL.

I know that's already been mentioned, I just wanted to reiterate it's importance. smile.gif

I know a forum too that uses simple machines and the look is customizable. Not sure if it has a mobile version... Never checked

Anyone in the group particularly tech savvy?  If not, I guess I'll volunteer to check it out as I will eventually need an free forum for my neighborhood listserv and if this one is awesome, then it would be great to have both groups on the same site.  I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by just the homepage as there are all sorts of FAQ's about forums getting hacked, spammed, crashing, etc.  One of the big things we give up by moving to a site like this is that we are more responsible for dealing with issues.  Moving to a mega site like Yahoo or Google would put the responsibility on them, but that also reduces our ability to customize.

This looks good, too. https://www.phpbb.com/

I'm very slightly tech savvy. I can look into simple machines and phpbb. I know phpbb is mobile friendly.

ETA I just read a comparison and phpbb seems to be superior.
